My pug was seen by Dr. Southerland at the last minute--an emergency--because she had what the good doctor said may be parvo. She was 11 months old. When I brought her in she was in my arms, wrapped in a towel which we ('we' being my boyfriend and I who met up with me no more than 5 minutes later) hoped would serve as a sweet reminder of home to know that we will be back for her. Two days after we brought her in she passed away. We did receive a phone call from the doctor himself which is a plus in my book, however when we got her back there was the wrong name on the casket box, her eyes weren't closed, the IV was still in her arm, and she was in a garbage bag. Yes, they had written the wrong name on the box but at least they had our last name right. It's okay, we said. We'll overlook that, it's close... whatever. We brought her home, dug a hole and had the idea to wrap her up in the towel, (a sweet reminder of home) we opened the casket box to find a garbage bag... that they had put my baby girl pug in. We were outraged. My dog is not trash. Well, she wasn't going to be buried in that, so we opened the bag. Wrong towel. Her eyes weren't closed. The IV was still in her arm. We were livid. Absolutely 300% pissed off. Look in a thesaurus for synonyms to 'Angry' and add grief, that was us.

My precious Elizabeth died at the clinic and they didn't even have the decency to shut her eyes, take the IV out of her arm, make sure they had the right name on the box, and put her in something other than the average commercial black garbage bag that you can buy at any retail establishment. Do I recommend this veteranarian clinic? No. Will I go back? No, no I will definitely not. Do I find Kiehl Avenue Animal Clinic disrespectful? Yes, and insensitive and neglectful. This isn't the first time a furry family member has died there, you know.
