My joy and gratitude to Dr. Wood prompted my long review. ( seen below) . I will sum it up now. He is unconventional yes. Insofar as truly caring about animals. Those with limited vision who cannot see out of the box seem not to care for him. I admire, respect and Like Dr. Wood. - Dr. James Wood saved my beloved cats life, period. After seeing 6 vets w/o a diagnosis or help, I was optionless, terrified and frantic. He was caring, comforting and capable. Several times he worked way into the night doing everything possible to keep her alive, one day at a time. Never basing his level of care on money, ...as is generally the case. I called him at all hours and he even interrupted his Thanksgiving dinner to see me.
Since I moved and now have monies for "specialists", I've seen several Vets who treated me well,, and a couple really care about our fur babies not the bottom line. ...Yet I'll never forget Dr. Wood. Who really helped me when I desperately needed it,,, while others were callous and cavalier. James Wood, you are my Angel and I'm eternally grateful to you. PS: Weezy sends her love too. Xxx

If you need immediate & caring attention, then Run to Dr. Wood. Unconventional, Different. Yes. Although different in multiple positive ways, far out weighing the negative! Additionally he informes you before you begin, of his limitations. Relates them to your animals needs, and suggests where you might be better served, if it be the case. Before meeting him, the Dr. held 2 hour long phone consultations with me. Suggested what I might need that he did not have. ...Now, I adopted an 11 yr. old cat from the H.Society. Went to 6 ( all) local vets, as I am a Senior and must use taxi's.. All gave a shot of Antibiotics, claimed her bad teeth were her issue & now they are ALL pulled. Each charged Double of what Dr. Wood did! ..She was 90% bald, sores covering her body, swollen, angry red. She went from 11 lbs, to under 5. Pain prevented eating. The seizures started. I Knew her "issue" & it was Not "spread infection from dental plaque to her body from cleaning" As all claimed w/a cursory glance. No examination! To clarify, I wash her Nightly, w-water, and not an insect to be found. ( she is white.) ......Dr Wood, took stool, ear, samples & studied them. He sprung into action. Dealing with her many 'symptoms, that would have killed her by nights end. . He gave her a cocktail of badly needed meds. & different meds, to follow up with at home.. BTW: my 1st. visit interrupted his Thanksgiving Dinner & he agreed to see her around Midnight. As I cannot find a way to travel to a large city & a bigger, equipped clinic, Dr. Wood has been keeping her alive by treating her symptoms. He was presented w/a Senior cat, exhibiting multiple, serious issues & dealt perfectly with each one. Closely aware of being as minimally invasive, or causing discomfort to Louise.. He listens, Really listens. Asks many questions, . Gives proper and detailed ( writing down instructions, as my memory fails me.) advice of continuing care. He "works with me" as to payment. Not 'money hungry at all..!! I can & have called him, at any hour, and he is there for me. His concern for my cat is plain to see, his furrowed brow, in his gentle touch, suggesting I cover her in between his administering care, to prevent a chill. Yes, in this rural community, owning a house and a clinic, close, is the norm that Iv'e seen. So every point that has been made, is true. Although perception, and variables must be considered! Bottom line. This man may not win a personality contest ( yet I like him very much.). His Love for animals is evident. I respect, admire, am eternally grateful to Dr. James Wood, for taking Excellent care of, and saving my baby Weezy's life...!!! * Particularly when 6 others, the last seen 3 weeks prior, did not! * < He shrugged & said to each issue & plea to do something, "Ah, that's just the way she is" & charged my credit card w/o my knowledge an additional 250.00, on top of the 180 paid... *Go To Dr. Wood If You Want Real Help & Close Attention To Your Beloved Furbaby..!!!

Dr. W is an old-school vet who runs a rustic yet clean clinic located on the Delaware River. He has been our vet of choice for over 5 years. Dr. W was wonderful to my two dogs who suffered and died of cancer within a year of each other. While he does not euthanize, he does provide humane treatments for failing patients. He was kind and gentle with our dogs and despite the circumstances they always appeared to be happy to "visit" him. I'll never forget how he took us at any hour of the night when our dogs needed immediate and/or emergency care.

This clinic is dirty and the vet does not know what he is doing. Dr. James Wood is a nasty, strange man and does not like animals it seems. He charges an unbelievable amount of money for doing nothing but telling you that you need to go someplace else. I don't know why the state allows him to remain open.
