Miles is great with my Golden he has had a UTI since he was born. He is getting great care trying to clear him up. The last visit he was infection free so he has been on a special food for a couple more months to make sure it has not returned. Today his urine will be checked to make sure its still gone I sure hope so. They know their business
over there and I will continue to take my dogs there.

I have taken my pets to this vet service for many years. Dr. Sherman, whose practice it used to be, was gruff but very knowledgeable. He was good. I am not sure if Dr.Kelly knows what he is doing. He is very technical in his explanations, as if trying to impress. The last time I took my dog there, she was very sick. The staff did not give me good information, they released a dog who was still in pain, and they appeared to not have given her the antibiotic shot they said they were going to give her (it was not on the bill). I do not think Dr. Kelley talks to his staff. I found out later, by talking to him directly, much more. Like I said, the condition of my dog was bad when I took her home. I was told to give her antibiotics and a pain killer by mouth but not shown how to do this. She had a lot of jaw pain, so I had trouble administering the medication. The clinic did not give her any pills by mouth (again, not on the bill), expected me to do it. I am considering changing vets. This was truly a bad experience.

I could tell that they took pride in their office's appearance. It was very well organized and well taken care of. This veterinarian was compassionate when my pet was sick. I can tell that they really cared about my pet's well-being. I always have a positive experience every time I have an appointment here. They gave me sufficient information to make a decision about my treatment plan. I also find them more reasonably priced than some others I've gone to and they make sure that you understand the cost of treatment/care, especially if the care might continue long-term or if the prognosis is bleak and would cost a great deal. They understand the economy of the people here in Maine and realize that much as many of us dearly love our pets, sometimes we cannot afford the long-term care; for example, my cat was very ill with jaundice and while there are options, all of them would have quickly added up to a good deal of money and none of them were a certain cure or fix. While he wasn't old the condition was unlikely to resolve and might not even with treatment. So, given the choice, we let him go and chose to have him put down and be out of pain. It was unexpected and very hard but we were given all the information and choices as well as the cost, which had to be considered. Jax was treated kindly and it was clear that his suffering was totally considered first, even before the money issue was approached. When the cure could be as bad as the pain and even possibly be worse or not work, they are very honest about it and about what is best for your pet.
