My son was hospitalized here for a psychotic meltdown after the death of my father. Dr.Khan & Dr.Salvo was instrumental in helping my son overcome & cope with his depression. The adolescent programming at this hospital is excellent. I would definitely recommend this facility to parents seeking quality mental health treatment for their children.

A LIVING HELL. IT IS UNREAL TO BELIEVE THIS PLACE CAN EXIST. IT IS INHUMANE AND IT IS INSURANCE FRAUD FOR WHAT THE CHARGE THE STATE TO HOSPITALIZE PEOPLE. THEY MAKE UP RECORDS ON THE PATIENTS THAT ARE SENT OVER FROM CPEP AND MAKE UP STORIES AND LIE SO THEY ARE ABLE TO JUSTIFY THE TREATMENT OF THE PATIENTS. THE STATE, THE GOVERMENT, NEEDS TO KNOW HOW THEY ARE SCAMMING THE INSURANCE COMPANIES AND MEDICAID!!!!!!!! IT IS AGAINST FDA POLICY TO TREAT ADHD W ANTIPSYCHOTICS BUT YET THEY WERE SHOOTING ME W HALDOL AGAINST MY WILL. MY PSYCHIATRIST HAD ASKED ME TO SAMPLE A MONTH SUPPLY OF VIBRYD AND I STARTED hAVING SCARY SIDE EFFECTS AND TRIED REPORTING TO THE DR AND NEVER RECEIVED ANY CALLS BACK TO ADVISE ME ON HOW TO HANDLE THE HALLUCINATIONS SO AFTER DEALING W THESE HORRID SIDE EFFECTS FOR OVER A WEEK, I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CALL 911 BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. CPEP CUT ME OFF MY REGULAR MEDS OF BEING ON FOR 12 YEARS AND SHIPPED ME TO BRUNSWICK AND REPORTED PSYCHOSIS MEANWHILE I WAS TRYING TO TELL THEM IT IS SEROTONIN SYNDROME WHICH ARE VERY SIMILAR BUT THEY HAVE DEFORMED MY CHARACTER BLAMING MY ADHD MEDICATION INSTEAD OF DOCUMENTING THE TRUTH. NOW I AM DISABLED AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO RECEIVE HELP BUT I WILL NOT GIVE UP!

My daughter was sent to Brunswick by StonyBrook CPEP because she was upset over a breakup and wrote a note that was misinterpreted. After 3 days at CPEP in which we couldn't have any contact with her, and she didn't get to speak to a therapist or counselor about her mistakes and what made her do what she did, she was transferred to hell. All the doctor ( Dr. O) there did was prescribe medication for her. No one asked how she was feeling or discussed anything with her. She was supposed to go back to school upstate that weekend, and I wanted her out by Friday. The doctor was very rude and combative. He told me he was in charge and that she couldn't get out until Monday. Classes started on Monday, so she would already miss the first day of classes after having broken up and also been locked away for a week. All they did was drug her and the other patients. Her own therapist even said they should never have combined Cymbalta and welbutrin and that's exactly what they were doing, all the while increasing the dosage of welbutrin every day. I was told they couldn't let her out because they needed to monitor her. The doctor and social worker were off. No one saw her from Friday until she was discharged on Monday. Fights broke out among drugged up patients with the staff and other patients. It was the most horrible place. No wonder the state of mental health is so abysmal in this country. She did not go in there as a drug patient. She knew she what she did and knew it was a mistake. But she never had the chance to tell anyone because no one there cared what she thought or was feeling. They just kept drugging her!! This place should be shut down. All it was doing was charging her insurance company, which may not even pay because she didn't make it back to school. She was too upset over everything that happened that she took an leave of absence. Deplorable that they are still in business. Horrible that this "man" has the right to have MD after his name. Shut it down is my strong suggestion!!
