No, They definitely believe in quality over quantity and allow more than enough time in between appointments

They make an extra effort to get to know their patients and find out what they need. They always remember me and make me feel very important. They've never used foul language, which has bothered me at some of the other places I've been too. They always make an extra effort to be polite and courteous. The kennels and holding area for pets were so clean and spotless, I would recommend them for sure if you need to leave your pet for a few days. I am going to refer everyone I know here. I absolutely love this place. This veterinarian was so compassionate when my pet was sick. I can tell that they really cared about my pet's well-being and reassured me that things would be alright.

He/she would never do that! Their full attention is always on me.

Whenever I make an appointment, I'm always confident that they're going to be ready for me at my scheduled time. At other places I've been to, it's always bothered me when they postpone my appointment, but they've never done that here. It was nice to hear how much the staff respected them. It made me that much more confident that I was under the care of a professional. I love that they are always more than happy to answer my questions, and actually welcome questions. I've felt awkward at some other places I've visited when I've tried to ask a lot of questions, but not here. They always take that extra step to make me feel special. I always enjoy my appointments here. They were very sympathetic to my situation, and made me feel cared for. I knew that I could count on them at all times. This canned review of Dr. Alters vet hospital was essentially correct but I found him to be an excellent vet who cared about his clients above as else, but then also cared about their owners. If you care about your pet Dr. Alter is your man.

I think in this day and age we need to be more responsible for ourselves and stop blaming other people. I find Dr. Alter to be a professional who put's my Mini Schnauzer's health at the top of the list. It is up to me to ask proper questions and do my own research as with any Dr.
People's personalities can rub us the wrong way when we are in "crisis" mode with our pets... ultimately, it is the care received that matters, not the bed side manner.
I have been with Dr. Alter for three years and have no problems. He has performed surgery on my dog that I am pleased with. He has been there for me during "off" hours.

I have been using Pet's Friend Animal Hospital for over 20 years. I have always found them to be friendly and informative. Additionally, Dr. Alter has always laid out several plans of care for my animals. Taking time to explain the difference in price, outcome treatment and possible results. He has returned calls at all hours of the day or night and always made him facility available during times of need. I would strongly recommend Dr. Alter and his staff to the residents of Guilford and the surrounding area.

Their prices were very fair, but you get what you pay for. Dr. Alter is arrogant and condescending and is not a very good communicator with owners. He is a decent vet and does seem to care about the animals, but he is not very forward with clients about what to expect.

Our puppy needed surgery on her elbow. From the outset, we were never told what to expect in terms of how long the stitches would be kept in, etc. It wasn't until later that we realized how difficult it is to heal a wound on the elbow of a very active puppy. Through it all, we took her for multiple appointments with Dr. Alter to assess her bandage and wound. After 14 days, the stitches came out, but a few days later the wound split open at the elbow. We took our puppy back to Dr. Alter, and I asked to speak with him before he re-stitched her. I wanted to see if there would be a way to immobilize her leg or to do something differently this time to avoid the same fate again. I asked to speak with him before he proceeded with surgery. This didn't seem like too much to ask since we had been dealing with him so often for the last few weeks. He, however, refused to even speak with me and stated through his technician that if I was not on board with his plan to re-stitch her elbow, then I should pick her up and take her elsewhere. It was so unbelievable to me that he couldn't even communicate with me. He let our puppy leave his practice with a gaping wound in her leg, and we had to quickly scramble to get her emergency care elsewhere.
