Vet is great, clinic is great. We recently had to put down our 16 year old golden retriever, who had been a family pet since she was rescued as a puppy. We were able to sit outside the by the river with her while she was sedated. It was a very difficult time, but the clinic handled it very well and made it much easier for our family. We bring our other pets here as well, and have always been happy. Prices are reasonable, appointment times are flexible, and practitioners are competent.

I love Dr. Cruise! I have two large farm dogs who are very comfortable seeing him. He gives me good info and helps me make loving and economical decisions about their care. THANK YOU!

Living in a small town with one vet puts them in the drivers seat with availability of hours. Most people work during the day it would be nice to have evening hours maybe twice a month instead of having to take off of work yet again for one of our 5 pets). The Saturday morning hours once or sometimes twice a month are booked solid weeks in advance so that should tell them something about needing to do a better job in meeting the needs of the customer!
Who ever heard of a one-and-only vet office being closed for an entire WEEK! We had a sick cat during that time and there was NO ONE available for the emergency. Another time our dog had left their office after being sedated for a procedure. She was in pain and doing poorly with her respiratory status. It was after hours and the only number forwarded us to a Madison "on-call" service who knew NOTHING of our dog's situation. We finally resorted in emotional desperation to calling the police to track Dr. Kuntz down to help us through.....the dog died in our arms while he was on the phone with us.
The fees have gotten atrocious, a fee for just stepping foot in the door, a fee for an exam, a fee for house bloodwork, a fee for bloodwork sent out. There is NEVER a general routine visit that doesn't cost a minimum of $100+.
Staff: Sue rules with an iron fist....she can be oh so friendly on the phone or when you are standing in front of her with payment, BUT don't you dare be late or miss an appointment or have issues with paying or request to be squeezed in for an emergent situation....she gets UGLY and nasty.
The vet tech: treats you like you know nothing (even someone with a medical background), doesn't like requests or suggestions that don't come from her, clearly dislikes frightened or struggling animals (they are terrified for pete's sake), and heaven help you if your animal has an accident out of fear! She does most of the work and Dr. Kruze comes in at the end, maybe.
Vet Dr. Kruze: TALKS TOO MUCH. TALKS TOO SLOWLY. Very hesitant to give his opinion even when you ask for it and especially when you have been coming to the same office (him) for years. He is good about calling back and letting your know results. Always wants to do "more testing" which is like saying "give me more money". He is the one with the high brand cars in the lot (BMW) when I am driving an 11 year old van with 200,000 miles on it!
IF THERE WERE ANOTHER VET IN NEW GLARUS I WOULD GO THERE IN A MINUTE.
