All the doctors are good and kind to all animals. Their knowledge is outstanding. They don't recommend or sell you something you don't need.

The prices are lower than many other clinics and Hospitals.

I live in Madison, and the prices are terrible on the shoreline!

We can't thank Dr. Van Patton enough for helping Lollie a few years back. She was having issues and we took her to him for possible acupuncture. While I was totally petrified of what the needles were like, he was more than happy to show me how they worked and we discussed in detail what could happen with her treatment. We went back 6 more times, driving from Topeka to him. She loved it and after a few days with the acupuncture and the holistic medicine he gave us she was back up to par. Without repeated treatments she did get sick again about 10 months later, when Dr. Van Patton diagnosed her he said she had liver fire and come to find out when we took her to our local vet he diagnosed her with Cushings. We couldn't believe how accurate he was in treatment without much more than touch. We completely suggest anyone who is considering to do acupuncture, holistic medicine or even western medicine on any of their animals to start here with this practice, you will never regret that you did!
After an initial IVDD episode with one of my dachshund boys we took him to have acupuncture down the street here in Topeka, thinking that maybe acupuncture was just acupuncture and anyone could do it. after one treatment I decided to never take him back there for anything.I never felt like that with Dr. Van Patton he has a healing touch and a caring personality.
I am sure we will be seeing you again soon Dr. Van Patton, thank you again!

Our rottweiler was having pain in his sacral joint so our regular vet said we should look into having acupuncture done. Dr. Van Patton was one of the few vets in the area that practiced acupuncture so we made an appointment to have it done. I was very surprised that a "country vet" was educated in acupuncture since even medical doctors are just now starting to see the benefits of acupuncture in humans. After one visit, our rottie was getting up and down and walking around with less pain (no crying). He cotinued to get better with each treatment. Later, we discovered he also had developed lung cancer so although Dr. Van Patton was not able to diagnose the cancer and we were referred to Kansas State Vets to obtain the initial diagnosis, we did continue his chemotherapy with Dr. Van Patton and never had any problems. If we called with any emergencies, they always got us in immediately. We have since moved away but would recommend Dr. Van Patton to anyone we know.

I constantly felt like I was trying to convince Dr Van Patton that there was something wring with my dog, and guess what? There was. She had pancreatic cancer, and we dawdled around giving her supplements while she was in serious pain and losing weight. She was put to sleep, but I wasn't able to be there. I later brought another dog in to remove a small benign tumor on her leg. The surgery was performed and we were sent home. The bandage was far too tight and cutting off blood circulation to her leg, so we returned to have it redressed. He took her to a private area that I was not invited to. I wasn't pleased already, and suspicious, so I went through the exam room and peered through the glass window of to operation room he and his assistant had gone through. My dog was in serious pain and discomfort and was snapping, which is why we didn't redress her incision ourselves. Instead of giving her pain medication, or at the very least muzzling her for his own safety, he wrested with her, and when she snapped again, he took his fist and beat her over her head. I screamed, and after he'd finished, I confronted him, and he acted like I was insane. His assistant mysteriously disappeared. We paid our bill in full and have never returned. I still kick myself for not reporting this to the state board, but I was so upset I just couldn't compose myself enough to get it on paper. Please, please. For the sake of you and your animals, do NOT go to him. He needs to be shut down. He does not care about the animals he cares for, and he makes me sick. If you have to use him at your vet, never leave him alone with your pet. Always insist on being present.
