I've been a steady customer for 5 years now, and I'm about to change my allegiance to the South Side fitness for a variety of reasons.
1) Cleanliness: today I spent 21/2 to 3 hours there. When I arrived there were cigarette butts on the changing room floor, as well as tissues and hair all over the place. When I left, they were all still there! Obviously no one is hired to maintain sanitation during the day. Gross!!
2) Handicap showers: I have a disability that forces me to sit while I shower. I am slight (125 lbs), but the seat felt like it was going to break under my weight. I can't imagine trusting it if I were any heavier, particularly if I had to maneuver onto it from a wheelchair. Dangerous!! Being disabled, I am sensitive to cold and want to preserve my dignity whilst showering. The curtain gaps about 6 inches on each side, allowing cold air to rush in and an unobstructed view of my somewhat less than dignified showering. How hard is it to add a shower curtain (or buy one that fits the opening)?
3) Cost: in the last 6 months the price has gone up twice, while the service has gone down. It was never great, but the new ownership appears to be cutting costs in all the wrong places.

When oh When will you ever clean the showers of all the soap scum? You are losing clients by the dozens due to the lack of cleanliness. HOPE NEW OWNERS READ AND HEED!

Very dirty environment, lots of spider webs everywhere. Poor cardio equipment, duck tape is used to keep padding on machines together also on the Mirror.
