UT Hospice nurse was not there when my husband needed them. He was screaming in pain although I had been giving the dosage of morphine they recommended. He had fallen the previous day but told me he was alright. I didn't know if the stent in his bladder had been comprised (that was my biggest fear) nor did the dr. I'm assuming that is the reasoning behind ordering the scan. The UT emergency dr. knew he was in hospice but did not call them to authorize the scan that they apparently deemed necessary to do. Now, we are being stuck with a huge bill we can't afford, $6,578.50. Was I just suppose to let him suffer? I was distraught and didn't know what else to do to get him help. UT Hospice was not concerned or helpful and that is the reason we went to another agency. They were not there when we needed them. I had also advised hospice we were going to the emergency room when no one was available to see him. When you are a hospice patient that's the last thing you want to hear. Who was supposed to authorize the scan? This has been such a hardship on us as my husband approaches the end of his life. I expected better from such medical people.
