Several years ago my daughter gave me a gift certificate to Chastain’s Salon for Mother’s Day. While the stylist was working on me the salon owner, Mark Chastain, took one look at me and called the stylist around the corner. In a voice clearly loud enough for me to hear he told the stylist to ‘put me out the back door because I wasn’t the kind of client he wanted.’ I saved the horrified stylist the embarrassment of having to convey Mark’s message. I thought to myself, “Now I know how it feels to be told to go to the back of the bus.” I was good enough to go in the front door, good enough to pay them, and I was GOOD ENOUGH TO OUT THE FRONT DOOR! Since then I have asked every woman I know to never darken Chastain’s door. Happy Mother’s Day to me.

After having an appointment for three months (for a highly recommended stylist named Heather) AND returning their confirmation call the day before my appointment, my appointment was given to someone else. In other words, I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment and waited for approximately 10 minutes only to be told that Heather did not know I had returned the confirmation call (she acted as if I was lying) and that she had booked someone else. Seriously. She said she was sorry and that she would see if someone else there was available to work on my hair. No offers to work me in later or to reschedule me ASAP.

My recommendation for Chastain and/or Heather is to make the confirmation process fool-proof or just do not accept new clients. What happened to me should never happen.

My recommendations for clients who really want to go to Chastain and/or Heather are to get the name of whoever takes your return call, take note of the time, and call back again the morning of your appointment just to make sure they know you are coming. I realize that you, the customer, should not have to go through all of this, but it might save you time in the long run. I had friends from out of state visiting, and they timed their departure around this appointment. I could have visited with them for a few more hours had I known I no longer had an appointment. Very disappointed.

I loved how quickly they got me in for my beauty treatment. I spent less than a couple of minutes in the waiting area. I was in awe at the level of service I received. They completely surpassed all my expectations and I will absolutely be going back. I was completely at ease during my appointment here. They went to great lengths to make sure I was completely relaxed and comfortable the entire time.
