Despite reasonably nice rooms the staff is not really concerned about your needs. The staff may or may not come when you call them for help. I was in the bathroom waiting for more than 15 minutes for someone to come and help me. Finally I decided that I would have to move into the wheelchair by myself. I fell on the floor and I started screaming for help. Finally some non employee heard me screaming as loudly as I could, and told the staff that someone was calling for help. They eventually came and found me on the floor with my leg bleeding. A few of the staff cares about you, but the majority of the staff is indifferent. They do their job description kind of, some a little better than others.

Their physical therapy program is not as good as it has been in the past. I had been here before and it had been much better. The therapists now spend a lot of their time charting rather than with the patient. That way they don't have to do their charting at a later time.

There is a new unit set up for knee and hip replacement which is nice, but if you don't meet and come along as quickly as they want you to, you get sent down to the regular floor even if you signed up for the new unit and that is what you expected. I protested and was told that my choices were to leave or go to the other area. Whitehall does what it wants regardless of what is best for the patient.

Things that belong to you disappear frequently. Each time I have been here that has been the case. Do not bring anything that you want to go home with. Clothes have been stolen and there is no reimbursement for what has disappeared. Even though labels are put into things, they are gone. I have lost pillows, bath sheets, stuffed animals, and lots and lots of clothes. This time I decided not to send my clothes to the laundry and that has helped to keep my clothes from disappearing.

There are other rehab facilities that are far superior to Whitehall. I decided to give Whitehall another chance because of its location and my previous positive experience with physical therapy. But after this experience, I will definitely choose another facility. Their discharge routine is not based on what is best for you which also disturbs me greatly. You go when they say - you have no choice.

This nursing home is terrible. The administrator and social worker are cold hearted people who cut off my mother's care for no good reason.

Whitehall was the best decision I made for an orthopedic rehab health care facility to help with the injuries I sustained. The experienced, attentive and courteous staff immediately understood the seriousness of my injuries. The caring therapists, dieticians, social workers and remaining staff that I have and still am encountering are proving that my four to six week stay will be one that I can in full trust, with the caretakers provided by Whitehall and the care already given, continue the healing process, both mentally and physically knowing that I will be satisfied 100% with the treatment.

It is very important that patients pay very close attention when making a decision on a health care facility. Unfortunately for me, due to the immediacy of the injury, I initially made the wrong decision by choosing a different “Health Care” facility in the North Shore that promised a professional and experienced environment that would provide the best care. It was evident that the first few hours of my stay at this first facility that it was not equipped at all to handle the injury (Quadriceps Tendons torn in both knees) nor understood the meaning of the word “care”. I can also say that the staff lacked the professionalism that was promised and did not even have any common courtesy. My decision to transfer came within the first 12 hours or so. I immediately requested a transfer to Whitehall. I could not risk once again injuring my knees because the staff could not grasp nor care of the nature of my injury.

I can and will highly recommend Whitehall of Deerfield to everyone that is in need of such services. Hopefully no one gets hurt, but if you do, do not make the same mistake I made and choose the wrong facility. Whitehall is where you want to be.

I used this facility for rehab. The therapists and techs were great. However, the discharge planning from the facility was horrible. I never received the necessary equipment. Promises were made with no follow through. The discharge planner promised he ordered equipment and it would be there before I left. Then he apologized and said he didn't and would right away after I left the facility two days earlier. Two and half weeks after discharge a company called me and said they just received the order 16 days after discharge. The equipment was no longer needed. I had made my own arrangements. This was extemely poor and unsafe.

This review is based off of my father's care. The facility is inadequate in taking care of patients with neurological issues, and will not and have not listened to any reports provided about my father. There is lack of communication, and any medical concerns that were addressed were ignore unless we contacted the doctors personally. My father was left unattended in wheelchairs and even fell out of his wheelchair once, and the alarm that was attached did not go off. My mother found him, and no one knew how long he was on the floor. Make sure you take pictures of anything wrong, and stay on top of everything. The facility does not like those who are advocates and know a lot. I would never recommend this place unless you need rehab, and can take care of yourself.

Definitely not! It was obvious they just wanted to make money!

We are about two weeks in for my loved ones stay and the staff is great and very attentive to me when I come in and they answer questions. I get an uneasy sense of cattle shuffling with the patients at times but have also seen some very caring and sensitive staff members. I believe they have over medicated (the reasons for medication in the first place I understand), however, I am now on day FOUR of waiting for an additional doctor consult which might assist with properly medicating for mood but not over medicating. For being as pricey as they are, they are lacking quite a bit at this facility. It has reconfirmed my thought that home is better.
