I came to the home by ambulance after having surgery to repair my shattered ankle bones. The first thing to hit me was the strong smell of
urine.
After I was situated in my bed, the staff came and did the paper work and filled me in on the daily routines. They seemed nice enough so I was more relaxed. However that night, the first time a needed to use the
bedpan, I sat on it for 45 minutes before someone came. The food to me was almost inedible & not any choices really. I thought that the best
way to handle it was to have my family supply my food needs, but that even seemed to anger some people. One nurse argued with me on how I took my meds so I had her call my doctor. Even after she was told how I took them, we struggled daily about it. On the ninth day, I started having major blood in my stools & was returned to the hospital.
I refused to go back to Mather and was placed in another home, with much happier results & fast healing.
Now, with all that said & so much more I didn't even mention, there were some good people there. Physical therapy was great, a young aid by the name of Christopher I think, a young lady named Brianna, another who's mother works at the KI sawyer store, and an older woman, were all great. Very sweet people.
After I went to the other home, I realized how outdated the place & the equipment were.
