We were in the rehab portion. My mother was there for several weeks. The staff was wonderful and very attentive to her needs. While it was not home, it was a very pleasant experience for her and she was able to meet her rehab goals and accept the limitations she would have in mobility well. Because she was not mobile on her own we were very concerned about developing sores on pressure areas and spending all day in bed. That didn't happen at Heritage Hall. After her stay she was discharged with Not Even slightly reddened areas on her body. I thought her skin had been very well cared for during that time. It was quite a challenge for them because in some areas it was tissue thin. We also appreciated the community atmosphere and the fact that we would receive calls if there was a need to make a change in her meds or use an as needed med. At this time she is 95, very alert with clarity of mind; but not mobile on her own and unable to transfer without assistance to a commode or bed to chair, chair to bed. We are still caring for her at home and yes she is a 24 hour commitment and cannot be left at home alone. We are looking forward to using Heritage Hall in the Future for Respite Care so we can get a very well deserved break and not worry where she is, what kind of care she will receive or what care condition she will return home in after her stay. While this facility may not have had all the fancy superficial things that many do, in the things that count for patients and their families they excelled. Thank you Heritage Hall!! See you soon !!

I arrived at the facility to bring flowers to a woman I didn't know and walked to the front desk. There was no one in sight. So I poked around the corner knocked on some office doors, couldn't find any staff members anywhere. After waiting about 10 minutes my friend and I decided to just look ourselves and we walked into the back to see if we could find some sort of a nurses station or the room number I had on the card.

I passed several rooms looking like hospital rooms with patients laying in the beds. Eventually we reached the room of the lady we were delivering flowers to. Inside were two well-made beds, but not a person in sight. We saw what appeared to be a nurse’s station further down so we kept walking to see if we could find a staff member. Across from the nurses station was what I would call a wide hallway with a tv on the wall. There were probably 20 seniors plopped in their wheelchairs in front of the tv heads fallen forward looking like drugged up zombies. It was eerily reminiscent of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, but much sadder when you realized these people weren’t crazy, or troubled, they were just old.

At the nurses station we finally found a staff member and asked if she could direct us to the woman we had a delivery for. She said that she would be in her room. When we told her the room was empty she told us to hold on. She got on the phone and said, "Yeah Hi. There's some people here with some flowers for *patients name* is she still here or did she die? No the room was empty. She should be there? Well I don't know, how should I know." There was some annoyed shuffling of papers at the amount of time this was taking. After about 10 minutes the woman said, "Maybe you should just leave them here. I think she's the one in the wheel chair behind you, I have this picture here but I don't know if that really looks like her, what do you think?" The woman she was referring to couldn't have been more than 6 feet from us, I turned around perplexed and asked pretty stupidly I guess, " Well, can I ask her her name?" She said, "No point, I doubt she'd know it. I'll take care of it. Have a nice day.” I was about to lose my cool when my friend grabbed me and pulled me out of the facility in near tears. Words don’t do any justice to truly how horrible this scene was. On the computer screen it doesn’t seem half as bad as this establishment truly was. It was a lonely, scary, hell on earth and I hope to never let any of my relatives wind up in that sort of establishment.

Everyone in my community knows that they are the absolute best in the field. They were so easy to reach in an emergency, they answered my call immediately. It is a relief to know that I can count on them to always be there for me when I need them the most. The staff was very helpful no matter how many times I called with a question or concern. They never made me feel uncomfortable for asking any question. I don't think I have ever been put on hold here for a long time and am so impressed with how quickly all of my questions are answered. There's nothing worse than having to wait on hold for a half an hour just to get someone to talk to you. They are so kind and caring, and they stay open way past their closing time to help anyone who needs them. They wouldn't deny anyone that needed help. I know I can always count on them.
