I was desperate when I called Brookhaven and they were able to take me in right away. No, it's not a country club but I found the staff to be very friendly. The nurses try to accommodate everyone, but some people look to them to be personal servants which takes away from helping others. There are lots of activities to participate in too. The therapists, both psychological and physical, were outstanding and very friendly and helpful. I arrived there depressed, unable to even walk. Within 3 months I was much thinner and able to walk on my own.No, it's not the fancy beach club in the tropics, catering to all your whims...but it is a place of inspiration and I would not hesitate to go back if I ever needed to.

that worst place I have ever been too, i looks like a rundown welfare hotel, none of the nurses can answer a simple question for you, the place is not kept clean the floors are sticky there are little gnats flying around, it is one the worst place for any kind of patient care. I fee like calling the press, the place should be closed down

I was given a brief greeting when I walked through the door, but no one made any sort of effort to help me. I was given no orientation regarding the facility, services, regulations, etc. They either didn't read my information or didn't pay any attention to it. This particularly applies to one social worker. Even though she had my information right in front of her, I kept having to explain it and remind her of what my primary physician had advised. She ignored my instructions not to contact certain people about my case, but refused to contact those I asked her to. Most staff members were not understanding or caring, showing little empathy for my situation.
The facility is run-down. On arrival, I was kept in a room with a non-working bathroom for three days. Of the three elevators in the building, two were broken and not in use for one week. All patients were forced to use one elevator, but only when not in use by staff. Because most patients were in wheelchairs, the one working elevator could accommodate very few at a time.
In this "health facility," smoking areas are provided, but meals consist of an overabundance of white starch and water-logged vegetables.
There's much more.
Avoid this place, if at all possible.
