Waiting hours in emergency room to get proper treatment and get a room. Major lack of communication. Staff seemed stressed and overburden due to lack of enough nurses and staff help. Always took much time and effort to be able to talk to a doctor regarding the care of my dad.

can i give negative stars? worst experience of my life and that of my elderly brother who has an intellectual disability. we went there because he had been hospitalized there a couple of weeks before for same ailment and we figured they had his records and our primary physician is associated with this group. got there at 1pm. not to bad i thought. 5 hours into this it is getting full and they are telling people 9 hours wait to be seen by anyone. a few hours later two different people, who apparently had a nurse and doctor friend got in quickly even though they came there hours after we did. the one nurse friend actually went so far as to open the er door to welcome her friend. i asked folks at the registration desk if this was normal. she said 'the wait'. i said 'no the favoritism'. do you have to know someone who works here to get priority treatment? my observations indicate the answer is yes. at 10 pm it became pretty obvious that if we were seen at all he would not even be treated until tomorrow. so having come to our senses we left and went to Mid Hudson Regional the next morning and were in and out of there in five hours.
Another really concerning thing is that several folks were brought there by ambulance, brought into the lobby on gurneys and literally dumped on a chair or couch there. the only person i saw get in relatively quickly, who did not appear to have a nurse or doctor friend, actually was so ill he fell out onto the floor.
Really concerning to me and i hope to anyone else caring for an individual with limited coping skills is that they were willing to leave my disabled brother in that lobby for at least nine hours. Absolutely no accommodation for folks with special needs that i could see. I'm sure they receive a ton of federal funding which would obligate them to make accommodations for this population. So much for that. Pull back the funding!
While we were waiting and waiting and waiting I filled out a couple of Nuvance contact forms letting them know of this situation and have had no reply.
So bottom line - real pretty building. Incredibly horrible place.
Go somewhere else anywhere else.

Thank you to the Vassar Brother's Medical Center/ part of Nuvance Health for your hard work. I was at the center on 8-27-21. I was feeling quite anxious about the procedure that I was going to have done. Nurse- "Steve" with his professionalism and sense of humor helped me to feel more at ease. Thank you also to the anesthesiologist department for making sure that I understood what to expect from my medication before my surgery. Thank you for taking the time to make sure that I was relaxed. Especially thank you to the nurse who had to get the bedpan for me several times. She was very patient and never complained. I was glad when I could finally walk to the bathroom but never worried about using the bedpan. I am always so self-conscious of depending on others for assistance. How ironic it was that Vassar Brother's team had signed a "Thank you card for me. I hope you can understand how thankful that I was for you and your team.

My Mother 82 yrs old went in the Trauma Center by Ambulance because she passed out and had a seizure on the way to the hospital. Once at the .Hospital the Intake person asking her questions was very RUDE, she told him 4x she was going to get sick and he ignored her the 3x's then the 4th he said "So What" , she then proceeded to vomit in her mask laying on the guerney.
She tested postive for Covid and was put in the Isolation unit. Once she was able to eat she said the food was SO bad that she just could not even eat a little which means she continued to remain weak.
Needing Tissues because she is coughing constantly has proven more difficult than you would think. She is begging for Tissues to be brought to her because the ones they have are so thin they dont even work. I called and spoke to whoever it was that answered the phone at the desk and I was told that they are not allowed to receive anything.
Her fever has subsided but because she is so weak from lack of nutrition because of their awful food she cannot be discharged until she can walk on her own!

The entire Nuvance system (formerly Health Quest) is a disaster. My wife was diagnosed with Arrhythmia some weeks ago by Dr. Dorothy Page (located in Poughkeepsie N.Y.) who is part of the Nuvance health system. This after TWO EKGs were administered. THREE Blood tests were administered to my wife in the same time period. These test indicated my wife should have been admitted to a hospital weeks ago. On January 6, 2020, my wife went for a 4th Blood test, ordered by Dr. Page. On January 7th, my wife was ordered to the Emergency room at Vassar hospital. My wife and I were told that WE were expected there. As my wife's blood count was severely low. So low in fact that 2 pints of blood were needed. When we get to Vassar, the ER is PACKED with people. Apparently FLU PATIENTS came flooding in and the ER was ILL EQUIPPED to deal with them. When we walked in, I told the intake worker that Dr. Page's office had called and we were expected. NO ONE knew ANYTHING about Dr. Page OR my wife's condition. After sitting among the FLU INFECTED patients for over 4 hours, I called Dr. Page. I told her that I would leave as NO ONE knew anything or in fact WHEN my wife would be treated. ANOTHER BLOOD TEST and EKG was performed 5 HOURS later. Finally, my wife was put in a room, further exams were performed. This is now 7 hours since we arrived. A FULL 9 HOURS LATER, my wife had been moved to THREE DIFFERENT ROOMS in the ER and STILL, the blood she had been waiting for was not administered. NINE and half hours later they finally gave my wife her blood and was told she would be admitted for further "evaluation." My wife should have been admitted immediately as Doctor Page is an AFFILIATE of Vassar medical center. I'm appalled at the treatment my wife received, as well the conditions of the Vassar Emergency room an the apparently Negligent and INCOMPETENT staff working there. As for Doctor Page's part in all this? EQUALLY incompetent and Negligent!
