I was admitted in middleschool because I was somewhat depressed. I came out not being able to speak for a month because I was so broken. It made everything worse. The staff is indifferent to bullying happening in front of their face.

My father was admitted to the geriatric unit at Meadow Wood. He was fine for the first several days and seemed like he was getting better. Then he started slurring his words and I was told it was because the medicine caused dry mouth. Then my Dad started not making sense and falling. He went from walking on his own to a walker to not being able to walk at all. His wife discharged him from the hospital and when she picked him up he was incoherent and hallucinating. We had to call 911. A day and a half later, my Dad started to become himself again. He could speak, hold a cup of water, and walk with a walker. One more item of note. While my father could care for himself, he was fine in Meadow Wood. Once he couldn't walk, bath himself, etc. he was given no assistance. My father is lucky that he had an advocate. Some of the elderly do not. That co

This place needs to be taken down. The patients are treated like garbage. The adolescent program is especially harmful to children with self esteem issues and does not properly address behavioral issues.

It's safer to speak anonymously with an uneducated individual over the internet then go here. I went for self harm and the place only reinforced the urge and caused me to develop severe phobia and trust issues.

Horrible place for children. My 14 year old son was there for a week. They would not communicate with us so we never knew what was going on unless we called over and over again until someone actually would get on the phone. The doctor was rude - the social worker was worse,

They give the children nothing to do in between group sessions - they literally sit there doing nothing! They tell you they have pet therapy and art therapy - they never used it when he was there. They don't even have books for them to read. They would do movies - thats about it.

Worst of all- - they starved him. He has Celiac Disease and they assured us that they could handle his gluten free diet - that a Dietitian would handle his meals. That never happened. He had potato chips with ketchup & mustard one day for lunch. He lost 4 lbs and was dehydrated when we picked him up. Absolutely unacceptable. We had to get special permission to bring him pre-packaged food and they did not always give it to him when he asked for it at meal times - it was too hard at that particular moment to get it. Borders on abuse of someone who has no other way to get food. I would never take someone I love here. I worry about the kids who had no one to speak up for them.

Meadow Wood is good for baby sitting troubled people and keeping them from immediate harm, that is it! My troubled adult child was in both the PHP (day) program and the full time residence program and his mental health condition has actually deteriorated since his discharge. His meds were switch 100% just 4 days before his discharge (yes he was not titrated properly) and so he relapsed into a self destructive phase and has now gone AWOL from all of our family and former friends. - When he was there he knew all about the billing processes for attending "group session" in order to make revenue. It was obvious that this place is all bout the billing and making a revenue. The patient should never know about billing nor should the floor staff. Also he said the staff treated him poorly by talking down to him, which I could see when I visited him and tried to call there. I had to call several times and leave several messages before he was told that I was trying to get in touch with him. - Lastly, a sufficient after care plan was not made except for using their PHP program which would not permit him to get a job or take classes during the day. We got the feeling they wanted in to stay in the PHP program forever. --- Keep in mind this place does NOT have any psychologist for talk therapy or family support therapy. There is only ONE psychiatrist and numerous social workers who do not seem adequately trained. Great for adult day care or as a short term place for him to meet similar minded mental illness patents, which is what he did, but that is it. I would not recommend.

The Meadow Wood facility in DE is an abomination. If you care about your loved one, go out of state. I work in healthcare and have never seen a worse facility. The doctors are incompetent and do not care about the patients.... Please note that I have never complained about a facility in the past and the fact that I am doing so now, says a lot.

Don't take your loved ones here. They are no professionals. Doctors are irresponsible, that patients has to search for them. Doctors don't follow there schedule. Weekend starts from Thursday to the doctors. They extend the treatment stay for money. If you are admitted then they at least keep you there for 7-10days.

this place is a joke. I was sent there because my now ex-wife told them that I took 28 sleeping pills. even though my blood test was negative they still locked me in. every time that I question them about leaving I was threaten with a court committal. they held me for a week and now I found out that after 48 hours they need to file a motion with the court. but since my insurance was coving a week that's how long I was there. too bad for them that Aetna refused to pay them anything....but now 13 years later they want to report me as involuntarily committed. too bad the Delaware law states "No person shall be deemed "involuntarily committed'' for any legal purpose until the court deems the person an "involuntarily committed'' person at the conclusion of a probable cause hearing". too bad I had NO hearing. in fact I wasn't really allowed to talk to anyone on the outside. THANKS FOR NOTHING YOU LOSERS!!!!!!!! they are in it for the money. I can tell you stories about how they herd the patients from room to room and outside for smoking time. Some staff watch the patients while others are to busy with their social lives. And don't question a thing because they will say that youre being uncooperative and want to drug you up.
