Hi.. I have also written a Letter to Dr. Hillis in explanation of this issue. I made an appt. with the Dr. per his request.(physical visit) I am a home care provider and if I do not work 89 hrs a month I will lose my Insurance coverage. I am always working above those hours, but I miss one hour in one month which means I worked 88 hrs instead of 89. I was still paying for my Health Insurance premiums, I never received a notice in the mail that I was not cover by Insurance. SO I go to the dr. and the receptionist told me that my Insurance is invalid. I asked what Could I do? I need my High Blood pressure pills and I have no re-fills left. So she told me the price if I go and see the Dr. without Insurance.I did sign a paper stating that if my insurance wasn't available I will be billed to see the Dr. I didn't read the paper in details, I asked the receptionist. I took her at her word, But on her defense there were people waiting to be seen, she seem hurried. She said If I make another appt. I will be fine and not charged. SO I did that for Oct.8th 2009 But I wanted to see the Dr. due to needing my prescriptions and I was willing to pay, she talked me out of it saying to wait until my insurance is figure out and come back then . So she went back and asked the M.A. about my meds. I had given the receptionist the money for the visit and she took $10.00 instead for next visit. So I was willing to see the Dr. and Pay him But she talked me out of it and Made sure I got my meds. yesterday I received a bill For "No Show" and they Highlighted the reasons on the paper that I have signed. Now I do not dispute that.. I brought that up to the Receptionist,(cost of no show) What I dispute was.. She talked me out of the visit saying to get my insurance figure out, cause I was shocked that I didn't have any. She assure me that I would NOT be charged.(her words.. Why pay now when you can come back and have your insurance paid and we can refill your meds for you)
All she had to do was laid down the facts, give me the option to pay for a No show or to pay to see the Dr. I would of paid to see the Dr. Simple as that.. So.. I cancel my Oct 8th visit (I do have Insurance, I was only missing Insurance for a month and I spoke my mind to the Union that did this to me with no warning)And I will No longer see Dr. Hillis. I will not put up with the office staff not knowing their job or being to lazy to do their job properly. I will judge the dr. by what his staff does, they are a reflection upon him. My side is the 100% truth. and It can be verify by the fact of $10.00 was given to the office and I received refills and I have never been late before and I always paid my fees, I have NEVER been a No Show before... I realized staff will lie to keep their jobs, that is up to them. But the Doctors there NEED to speak with their staff and I will honor my bill and speak my mind towards others about Dr. Hillis office routine. Doris Jackson
