Dr. Vizcaino is pleasant to be with. I don't know whether it is he or other staff that is responsible, but getting prescriptions for refills from the staff is a miserable, dreaded experience for me.

My prescription is for a controlled substance, so refills can be prescribed for only one month at a time, and they cannot be handled between the pharmacy and the practice. I have to request the script, pick it up in person at the practice and take it to the pharmacy in person. That is not the practice's fault.

But, while the practice's policy requires patients to allow 3 business days for the practice to generate the prescription, it often takes longer than that to get a response to the multiple recorded messages I leave for the refill office. They won't initiate a request to the doctor for the refill on the basis of a voice mail from a patient. That begins only after the refill office returns the call to the patient. It routinely takes a week or two to get the script. It has taken up to three weeks, with me calling every day, sometimes visiting the office unannounced, asking whom I can speak to that will help me. I have run out of medicine that I really need. The staff members I encounter are pleasant, and yes, sometimes the prescription is written within 3 days. But generally, the process is viciously stress-inducing, and the effect on me is debillitating.

Somewhere in the organization is one or more persons who simply does not care. I would tell anyone who has other options to go somewhere else.

Every time I'm put on hold here I have to wait quite a while for them to get back to the call. Although I have had to wait longer at other places, I was still pretty unimpressed with their phone etiquette. They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up. They gave me sufficient information to make a decision about my treatment plan. Their entire office was immaculate. It was obvious that they took very good care of it. They answered my questions and spent a lot of time with me. I didn't feel like they were trying to rush my appointment at all.
