My mom is widowed, 77 years old, lives by herself and is very gullible when it comes to physicians.

She had her eyes examined here and then purchased a pair of glasses from them.

They charged her $800 for a single pair of glasses! When she told me I was in disbelief.

Recently, she had surgery to remove a cataract in one eye. Afterward, she returned for another exam and they gave her a new prescription. Before she went in, I told her to not buy her next pair of glasses from them as I would bring her to Costco optical instead. She decided to tell her 'doctor' this and he told her emphatically to not go to Costco because the 'glasses are not as good' and she would receive better quality and service from him.

Now let's see. A prescription is a prescription and every retailer of lenses offer pretty much the same selection of materials, etc.

Bottom line, her glasses at Costco were $190 including frames and lenses. She opted to upgrade to coated transition lenses for another $30 for a total of $220.

These people are thieves! They charged a vulnerable old woman more than four times more than she would have paid elsewhere.

I am now convincing her to use the optometrists at Costco from now on.

So, my mom was literally robbed of over $600 by these folks.

Buyer beware!
