My husband brought me in after I had collapsed and vomited at home, at 8 months pregnant. I usually saw a different doctor (whom I love) at his practice, but Dr. Gelber was on duty at the time. He said that I might've just had a really bad migraine headache. My husband persisted, and apparently I was suffering from a ruptured vessel (avm) in my brain. Migraine headache? I don't think so.

The doctor would not take my questions seriously and answered without even hearing the full question. He gave me advice that showed that he had not looked at my health history and was in such a hurry to get out that I had to chase him out the door with my final question. I am 8 months pregnant, and this was a two minute appointment after a 35 minute wait. He was by far the worse of all the doctors or midwives I've visited at this practice.

My first, and only visit w/ Dr. Gelber was for a consultation. I was having several female issues, some, perhaps peri-menopausal, others, unsure. Before he even saw me, he was outside the door complaining about this type of visit! He came in, no chart, (I had been seen in this practice for over 25 yr.s and slightly simliar problems for the last 2 but my Dr. had retired). I explained what was going on and he offered 2 solutions, NSAIDS and Estrogen, had he seen my chart he would know I can't take either, when I told him that he said, "well, i simply can't help you, I don't know what you want me to do." Obviously if I knew what was wrong and all the possible solutions I wouldn't be seeing a Dr. to begin with! After a verbal tussel, it turns out those were NOT my only options, btw. After more discussion of some other symptoms, he asked a question and I said, "weel, I'm not sure if that's realted or if that is part of a syndrome I already have", He says "And what would that 'syndrome" be?" and I said"CRPS" and he said"I don't do initials, you'll have to explain" so I did, CRPS is a very painful and complicated nervous system disorder, etc and he says "oh so that's what they're calling Fybromyalgia these days, ha, ha, ha?" I couldn't believe it, making fun of a patients disability? It isn't Fybromyalgia, but even it was, what an insensitive beast! Anyway, the rest of the visit was a blur as a just sat there fighting back tears from the first 15 min.s of his "bafoonery" This man is nothing but an insensitive little shrew, go somewhere that cares, and treats the whole patient, not just the uterus!!
