I had 2 teeth done by Dr. Chondrogiannis with the procedures of Core Buildup and Crown - Porcelain to Metal with the initial dates of services on in 2006 and 2007. However, there are a few problems with these 2 teeth, which have been bothering me for years:

1. Both crowns came off more than 5 times (total over 10 times) after using the permanent cement.
2. During the entire treatments of Core Buildup and Crown - Porcelain to Metal, the gums of both teeth were irritated, red and bleeding.
3. There are unusually big gaps between new crowns and nearby teeth. Food constantly stuff between gaps whenever I eat, although I brush teeth twice a day and use floss after every meal or snack and before brushing teeth.
4. All of these problems have caused toothache, gum infection, swollen, redness, pain and bleeding periodically. I am still suffering from the above now. Sometimes I have to floss in the middle of the meal due to the pain.
5. The tooth not only hurts me due to constantly stuffed food but also looks bad and weird cosmetically.

Dr. Chondrogiannis have tried to fix and adjust the crowns and re-glue the crowns for many times, and even have re-done the crown of the tooth. However, the problems were still not solved. He also told me that another patient had the same problem that the crown did not stay.

In 2007, I went to see another dentist in Scarsdale, NY. That doctor glued the crowns back. He also suggested these 2 teeth may have to be re-treated due to poor quality. Since then the 2 crowns have never come off again. However, there are still problems (e.g., pain, infection, redness, bleeding) caused by the initial inappropriate treatments which left big gaps between crowns and teeth.

In September 2003, I once consulted a dentist Tarrytown, NY, and this doctor's treatment plan suggested the procedures of Cast Post and Core and Crown - Porcelain to High Metal for the teeth which require crowns. In the past few years, I had a few teeth done with crowns by the dentist in Flushing, NY. This doctor also always used the Cast Post and Core and the Crown - Porcelain to High Noble Metal procedures, esp. when the tooth was short.

Dr. Chondrogiannis used procedures of Core Buildup (without Pins) and Crown - Porcelain to Metal. Although I have pointed out the differences of procedures (esp. the tooth is very short) to him, he said Cast Post and Core (or Core Buildup with Pins) and Crown - Porcelain to High Metal procedures were not necessary in this case. After so many incidents and problems for so long time, I am not confident if he proceeded with the right procedures and used the right techniques and the right treatments with the right skills, and I am not confident with the quality of the materials used.

I was really very patient, and have visited Dr. Chondrogiannis’ office for so many times since November 2006. I have given him many chances and hoped that he would get it done right eventually. But unfortunately the problems continue. I am still periodically suffering from toothache, gum infection, swollen, redness, pain and bleeding due to the inappropriate treatments of these 2 teeth. I believe there are definitely some problems, such as procedures, materials, skills and techniques, in this case. I suffered so much in the past years, and I do not deserve this after paying so expensive dental costs. It is not fair.

Recently I visited the dentist in Flushing, NY again. He pointed it out that the two crowns were in bad shape, poorly done, poor quality, bad materials, big gaps, etc. He recommended me to redo the crowns.

In 2007, I have tried to discuss this issue with Dr. Chondrogiannis via postal mails and emails for several times, and have requested the refund. However, he continued denying his mistreatment and refused to refund. He claimed that an Aetna representative had expressed to him that the work had been completed to satisfaction. This was a lie. He only told them what he thought.

The simple fact is that both crowns had come off more than 5 times, 10 times total for both teeth, during Dr. Chondrogiannis’ treatment, and in fact they were never fixed until the other dentist re-glued them. However, I still periodically have toothache, gum pain, bleeding, redness, etc. due to unusually big gaps between crowns and nearby teeth which caused food stuff and infection. I often can get big chunk of food stuff the gaps between crowns and teeth through flossing. In other words, the both crowns just never fit from the beginning.

I will NEVER EVER recommend Dr. Chondrogiannis to ANYONE. He is not a qualified dentist.
