AKA..East Brunswick Family and Implant Dentistry
I generally am not a dentist person, and because of that my teeth have suffered. I am writing this review because I think that dentists need to focus on the patients and the staff need to focus on the management of the office and the welcoming of new patients.
I had inquired about becoming a new patient and spoke to Faith the receptionist , I told her I was looking for an emergency appointment because my current dentist had splintered my bone when removing a wisdom tooth sometimes a common occurrence. She was able to fit me in with Dr, Ruiz at the East Brunswick Office. Dr. Ruiz was very accommodating and informative. Yet by the time my appointment was scheduled my emergency had subsided, the appointment became a consultation for my future dental care. I was charged for an emergency visit, which my insurance covered partially Okay. Couple of weeks later I was scheduled for a follow-up appointment yet I spoke to Evelyn , the billing and Insurance Specialist over the phone in a conference call with my Insurance company to assure Evelyn and myself that the next visit was covered both her and my Insurance company agreed that it was. After the next visit I was told that I had a $9 credit to my balance, Okay hold on to it I said.
Now in the past two appointments I had felt a slight tension from Faith the receptionist, but I'm sometimes loud and playful and she may not find me that amusing, Okay. Anyway, it was the New Year my Insurance covers everything from cleaning to evaluations, which I was therefore today. Again, Dr. Ruiz accommodating and informative overall a nice guy my cleaning went well but the aftermath not so good. Evelyn was preparing a future dental plan to repair my teeth and was going to evaluate it with the insurance company before I entered her office I was talking with the Doctor about the new facility they just moved into. I pointed out a new dental X-ray Scanner, which I wrongly estimated to be around $40,000 dollars, and the Doctor corrected me and said it more like $100,000. Wow, I jokingly said to the Doctor he should be more like me a Cuban that is because "Cuban's are the Jews of the Caribbean". Well when I stepped into the office to get my paperwork from Evelyn, the receptionist Faith came into the office in front of her collage said to me that she was Jewish and found my statement condescending. I apologized and said I was being humorous and had no intention to insult or sound bigoted, I assured her it would not happen again. A few moments later the doctor came into the office with Evelyn and I present to reiterate what Faith the receptionist had just told me, saying he had employees that were Jewish and my comment may have not gone well. I said I know Faith just told me, he said Okay he wasn’t aware she had spoken to me I assured him it would not happen again. Now I was not feeling all that great at this point but I said to myself it was not funny for that person and I should feel embarrassed, but then I said to myself I own a business and I would never humiliate my customers like that if I wanted to keep them as customers. Anyway, I shrugged it off yet still in the back of my mind.
Lastly, the final straw; Evelyn the billing specialist comments that I have an outstanding bill of $50 I was confused she said that the conversion we had with the Insurance company over the phone a few months ago, was not correct and I was responsible for the balance. Well I said okay I was extremely upset that not what we had discussed and that after I was humiliated I would not return.

I am always so impressed with how quickly my calls are answered here. I am never put on hold for a long time and love knowing that if I have a quick question I won't have to wait a half hour through terrible music to get it answered. Their staff is very friendly and professional. The girls at the front desk present you with a treatment plan before any work is done so you know how much your out of pocket expense is going to be. This was great so I don't have sticker shock at the end of my appointments. They're really great about taking their time with me, and they don't mind answering my . Ruiz will explain everything in detail to you regarding the procedure you are going to go through. He is very knowledgable and I have the ut most confidence in him. I've never felt like an annoyance to them no matter how many questions I have. I can always count on them to be there for me. This office makes you feel so welcome when you enter their door. I would recommend this office to anyone

This placed USED to be acceptable, but the last 3 times I was there was just a complete waste. They apparently don't care anything whatsoever about my teeth. While they're quick to try and schedule a cleaning, it's like pulling teeth to get them to schedule an actual checkup. I made the mistake first of telling them I thought I had an issue with a single tooth. Even though I specifically asked for a full checkup, Dr. Fan ONLY looked at the one tooth, that wasn't that bad. Of course, he charged MORE than what a full checkup would cost. I was annoyed, and was going to look for a new dentist, when I noticed an obvious gaping cavity in my tooth. A week later, I finally got an appointment. I didn't say ANYTHING about the cavity, only stressing over and over I needed a checkup. After the checkup, Dr. Fan didn't say anything, other than the girl discussing the 'Treatment Plan' would tell me how my teeth are. Really? I tried asking him a few questions, but he got rid of me as quickly as he could. I don't know why, since I rarely see anyone in the waiting room. So, I need this tooth, and apparently another one, filled ASAP so I don't wind up needing a root canal. I was expecting they could do it right then, but I find out they scheduled me for a MONTH later. If this is how they work, couldn't they have scheduled a follow-up earlier? If you're having a heart attack, and go to the Emergency Room, do they tell you to come back in a month, if you're still alive? Dr. Virdee, the lady Dr that apparently isn't with them anymore, did decent work, but the whole setup, and attitude, is depressing. Also, I'm not a fan of Dr. Fan. What I want from a Dentist visit is to KNOW that either my teeth are fine, or exactly what's wrong with them, and that they will be OK until they are treated. I can't get any of this from them. They're like construction workers... Point them to a problem, and thy may fix it on their schedule. Don't expect them to tell you what you need done, or to care if your house comes crumbling down.

The waiting room here is spacious. I never feel like I have to sit too close to someone or that it is overcrowded. I got an appointment quickly. I've never had to wait too long. The staff really knows what they're doing, and they know a lot about the company they work for. They're able to answer most of my questions, and the only ones they don't are the ones they need their boss's approval for. It was nice of them to offer some sample toothbrushes and toothpaste for me to take home. I was able to figure out which toothpaste I liked without having to buy anything.

They gave me sufficient information to make a decision about my treatment plan. They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up. They didn't pressure me to buy anything I didn't need, which I really appreciated. I've been to other places that pressured me to buy stuff and it always made me very uneasy. It was very noticeable that they practiced good oral hygiene themselves. If it wasn't obvious I probably would've doubted that they were any good, but I could tell right away.
