While the staff here has been pretty friendly and easy going, the doctors view of dentisttry is very aggressive. I suppose someone has to pay for all of the flatscreen TVs in every exam room, and the massaging dental chairs. I went from having a couple of small cavaties in the last 30 years to suddenly needeing fillings on every visit, and the last visit there a tooth w3as cracked while filling it...so now I need a crown. That was the last straw, i switched densits and am much happier now. Also, Maclaren charges a fee for EVERYTHING. if you're late for an appointment, thats a fee. if you have to reschedule something, there is a fee. Oh, you want to switch dentists, there is a fee for your records. I know my leaving them as a patient won't significantly impact them, but thats the only thing I can do to demonstrate my frustration with them.

As soon as I walked through the door, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They went out of their way to make me feel special and appreciated. Let me just say that this business is in one of the safest areas around and you will be pleasantly surprised at how lovely the surroundings are. They've never used foul language, which has bothered me at some of the other places I've been too. They always make an extra effort to be polite and courteous. This is a beautiful office and I have referred many friends to them. I've seen both doctors and they both are very professional. The work I have had done has NEVER hurt. They are on the ball with billing and I have never had to wait. I wish my doctor's office was like them!

I had a dental emergency and being new to the area have not set up a dentist yet. We were able to get a hold of the McLaren and get an 8am Monday appointment. Before we even made the appointment we asked several times to make sure they worked with our insurance. Their response "Yes Yes". I go in Monday morning and sit in the chair, before they do anything I ask again to confirm. The dentist went to the front desk and looked up exactly what we would pay after insurance..."Yes, yes, you're covered." After getting this work done I have a routine cleaning (should be covered 100%) and the front desk, dentist and hygienist all told me "yes, your insurance will cover this 100%. Well, they are clearly full of it because our insurance paid diddly squat. So we call them to tell them this is on them because they told us numerous times over the phone and in person that yes they work with our insurance. They didn't care and said we still have to pay. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS *PROVIDER*

I have always had an impeccable dental history and had been a patient at McLaren Dental Associates for about a year. I loved my dental hygienist, however when it came time for me to have a cavity filled the experience changed my view on dentistry forever.

It took roughly 45 minutes for the nurse to complete the numbing process. Way too long in my opinion. When the doctor finally came in and was ready to start he told me that if I felt any pain to raise my hand and let him know. As soon as he started drilling I raised my hand. He stopped and asked what the problem was. I told him that I could feel the drilling and it hurt! He responded by telling me that the cavity was so small it would take more time to numb me any further than it would for him to finish filling the cavity. So, he continued drilling and I continued to hold up my hand to let him know I was in pain. He made me feel like his time was more important than my comfort.

Six months later at my next check up I told my hygienist that the tooth was bothering me. It was extremely sensitive to hot and cold, and consistently throbbed. Before I had the filling done I felt no pain at all. She checked it out and the dental took stuck in the tooth, just like it would if there was a cavity. When the doctor came in and looked at it he said that everything looked fine and that I needed to start using sensitive toothpaste.

Needless to say, I never went back. I had never had a fear of the dentist before and never missed my six month cleanings, but suddenly found myself afraid to go. My tooth continued to bother me and I knew I needed to get it checked out. Finally two years after I had my cavity filled I broke down and found a new dentist. I told him that I had a feeling that the filling was not done correctly. When he checked it out he told me the filling was leaking and cracked and to make me more upset he was afraid I might need a root canal due to my irritated nerve! He did some x-rays and determined that hopefully a repair to the filling would be the solution. In comparison, he was the one who numbed me, not a nurse. And he sat in the room with me the entire 10 minutes, not 45, it took for the medication to take affect. When he started drilling I didn't feel a thing. Afterwords he told me that there was even further decay behind the faulty filling. Proof that it in fact it was not done correctly in the first place! Hopefully I will not end up needing that root canal!

Due to my experience I would NOT recommend McLaren Dental Associates.
