Our experience with Dr. Giakis and his staff has been extremely disappointing. We utilized his services, in the care of my son, for nearly 2 years. Dr. Giakis’s personality was uncaring, aloof and he was uninterested in open communication. He misdiagnosed my son, and was irresponsible in prescribing medications. According to experts at Mayo Clinic and other doctors, he changed medications far too frequently and definitely over medicated my son. Not only did my son not improve during his time with Dr. Giakis, but his depression became far more severe. In addition, his office staff is extremely understaffed and requires multiple phone calls in order to relay a simple message or transfer records. Since his release from Dr. Giakis’s care, my son has greatly reduced his medication and has had wonderful improvements.

Concerned with $$$ and not about truth. Lawyers seem to be too involved in "visit and diagnosis". HIPAA violations. Staff Lied and were deceptive. I would not recommend this person.

Dr Giakas is very professional and an expert in his field. I felt I got the best care when visiting with the Dr. I have had problems with the office personnel not communicating in a timely manner when communicating my concerns to the Dr. I felt I was not treated with the best options when my insurance had refused a refill of my current medication for the new year, because of changes to insurance drug policies. I was not allowed to receive a call-back from the Drs. to resolve my situation. I felt it was irresponsible of the Drs. to allow a person to fall off of current medication. And, the only way to get help was relayed to me by the office personnel in the way of seeing the Dr. before I could get help or pay for the medication outright without any options.
I have since dropped his services which is ashame because I am sure the office personnel never passed my concerns onto him.
I have had to seek out another physician. My pharmacy seemed to understand my situation and knew the side-effects if I dropped off of the medication so they were kind enough to give me free samples until I found another physician. This was not an option with Dr Giakas' office.

Dr. Giakas himself is a wonderful Dr. and very easy to work with. His staff, especially Penny is horrible. So rude, mean and irritated with a phone call. Addiitionally, the company he uses to do his billing is horrible and rude. Even his office staff knows how horrible the billing company is, but in the year my son was a patient, no one cared to make the change. It's tragic, actually. I will never understand a wonderful physician allowing horrible front desk staff. Never.
