I have been using this dr. for decades to do a routine exam. They never call you to remind you of an appt. I have a bump on my eyelid which another dr. told me was a blocked oil gland. Sameshima never noticed it.
I went to him 3 weeks ago to have eyelid surgery of top and bottom lids. My insurance would have covered the upper lids because it impeded my vision. This test had been done in 2009 by his staff years ago, yet I was told by an asst. that he didn't do this type of surgery. Skip to Sept 2011. A friend told me he DID do this surgery, so I went back to him and scheduled this surgery. He stood right next to me and told me where it was to be done, showed me the date for surgery in his appt. book,on a certain date, with the specific name of the anesthesiologist. He handed me a script for the blood work and EKG and told me I would be contacted for a pre op. So the test results he requested were done and sent to his office. Yet 2 days before scheduled surgery not a word, so I phoned him to get more info and he had no memory of the surgery, insisted that I was not on the schedule, blamed it all on his assistant who was on vacation. Told me to go to someone else, a dr. I had mentioned at our visit.. In other words, the two trips to my primary care dr for the blood and other tests, two trips to get these tests done, and Sameshima basically forgot all about me. Didn't even apologize for putting me thru all of that. I am terrified of surgery and it took all my courage to book this surgery. there goes my self esteem right out the door. I am worth nothing, not even the courtesy of an apology or an offer to compensate me for all my troubles, for the EKG, the blood work, the trips to the primary. Then the bastard forgot that I was even alive. His office is dysfunctional without the scheduler who insisted on making the consultation appt and the surgery appt. before she went on vacation. Obviously neither Sameshima nor the rest of the staff can function without this scheduler. He screwed up my friends eyelid surgery, and had to redo it because it wasn't even. That should have been the tip off for me, Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that the SOB forgot my surgery. He might have maimed me for life or blinded me. Let this be a warning to you. Stay away from Steven Sameshima!
