I first saw Dr. Larson after a porcelin veneer chipped. I was new in town and didnt have a dentist yet and a close friend of the family recommended her. After looking in my mouth for less than 30 seconds she said both my smile and the health of my gums which were slightly receeding at the time and are now far worse after the procedure, would both be vastly improved by replacing the two veneers with full crowns. In spite of it being obviously a much more expensive procedure and being on a tight budget I trusted her judgement and went ahead and agreed to have the work done. Big mistake. A couple weeks later I was shown the crowns before they put them on and the nightmare began. Apparently they had taken the mold of the teeth I had had, and instead of putting some thought, effort and creativity into it I got the exact same look only the crowns were much thicker and protruded out even more, think beaver. She said they needed to be that thick to give them strength. At that point I knew I had been taken. Who in their right mind would agree to have nothing improved cosmetically and spend $2000 when I could have simply paid less than half that to just replace the chipped veneer to begin with? So I asked if there wasnt something they could do to reshape them and they assured me they would get the problem fixed. I go back a week later and Im shown the reworked crowns. No they didnt start from scratch as I would have hoped apparently I didnt spend enough, they simply took the original ones and sanded them down and apparently in the process took a little too much off and left a bright white stain on one of them which is still visible to this day. I asked if the integrity of the crowns had been compromised after having been told they had to be thick to give them strength and was simply told they came with a lifetime warranty. Unfortunately I didnt learn my lesson and decided to see Dr. Larson and her staff once again for a painful molar. I was told this tooth would need a crown as well. Long story short, I was not in a position to fork out another $1000 and after looking at x-rays I was told the only other option was to have it pulled but that they would be unable to help me due to it being a "complicated pull" because of the close proximity of the nerve with the root. I was later told after spending nearly $1000 by the dental surgeon that she referred me to, that it was in fact a simple pull and surgery was not really necessary. Needless to say I will not be going back to her practice under any circumstances.
