I’ve been a patient of Dr. Sonnelblick for many years because she is competent, personable, detailed-oriented, and takes good care of me. She educates and informs me of tests that I should consider to stay informed. I like that because I want to avoid health related surprises to the extent possible. Her staff is friendly. I trust Dr. Sonnelblick. She has my highest recommendation.

I have been a patient of Dr. Sonnenblick's for two years. In regards to Dr. Sonnenblick personally, I've always found her to be friendly, helpful, and informative. She takes her time with patients and makes them feel cared for. Unfortunately, for various reasons (as described below), I would never recommend her to anyone.

In regards to her staff, I've never had a good experience. Her front office staff speak in loud voices that do not lend to patient confidentiality. They do not take responsibility for their mistakes or have sympathy for patients that have been waiting multiple hours past their appointment times. Mistakes in insurance billing are placed on the patient and any patients that express frustration are met with very aggressive responses.

Her scheduling staff aren't redeeming. When I called for an emergency appointment, I was not given one. Instead I was offered one in two weeks. At which point, I was forced to go to a local emergency clinic and then the ER.

Another area of disappointment is the prescriptions Dr. Sonnenblick writes. She was very kind to give me three month supply of my first oral contraceptive. However, with insurance, I was paying over $100 a month after that. When I went for a visit and requested a generic brand, she refused and said that none were available.

Which leads me to insurance. I got married and changed my insurance over the course of my time with Dr. Sonnenblick. I cannot count the times I requested that my name and insurance be changed in my file. Unfortunately, they not only forgot to change my name and insurance, but their related lab sent a bill to collections in my name because Dr. Sonnenblick's office informed them that I had no insurance on file. As a result, my credit was affected. It took 9 months and over 30 phone calls to clear up. No apologies were offered.

I'm very sorry to say that I stayed with her practice until I got pregnant. Dr. Sonnenblick does not accept new OB patients, because of her obligations to her young family (admirable). After visiting my new OB's office for my first appointment, I signed a Release of Records. The next day Dr. Sonnenblick's office called me to inform me that they would not release my records unless I was willing to pay a large fee (allowable by state law) for reproduction costs. They charged the maximum the law would allow. Kindly, they offered to send my most recent records only, free of charge- which does no good when you are pregnant. I conferred with my lawyer and he suggested that I request a digital copy of my medical records. The office out and out refused, which is illegal. This final offense is why I am writing this review. To refuse OB treatment to a pregnant woman, then require a hefty payment in order for that woman to receive treatment elsewhere is cruel. Shame on that office.

I would not recommend this office to anyone for the various reasons listed. Most especially to the women that plan on starting a family at any point in their lives.

Many years ago, I was not feeling well, for several weeks. I was running a high fever and did not know why. After ruling everything out, I started thinking that my IUD may be infected. I had had it 26 years and had not seen a gynecologist in all that time. I asked my daughter, who she saw, and she told me Dr Amy. I called her office, then in Plantation, and explained my symptoms and thoughts. Dr. Amy had me come in IMMEDIATELY. After my examination, Dr Amy sent me directly, to the hospital, where she, literally, saved my life. I had :PID and way only a few hours away from the infection bursting and going into septic shock. She also saved me from a hysterectomy which most doctors would have opted for. She is worth waiting TWO hours for. Good things are worth waiting for. and once again, years and years later, I am still grateful for Dr Amy

My experience with Dr. S. was terrible! It was an hour wait. She explained 2 tests would be done. She said she didn’t deliver babies for new pts, only existing pts. I had told the office when sched my appt that I hoped to get pregnant soon. This would be very helpful for new pts to know ahead of time.

While checking out, Dr. took call and told someone tests results right in front me. This was violated that pt’s privacy.

I learned that not 2, but 6 tests had been run, costing $746! I should’ve been informed that 6 tests were being done for such a high cost. I got the test results 2 wks later, after calling repeatedly for them.

After my visit, I wrote a professional letter to the office to let them know about my experience as a 1st time pt. I detailed my concerns but was not emotional, just factual. The billing mgr called to reprimand me for the letter. She told me that it was not the dr’s responsibility to inform a pt of costs. She raised her voice and talked over me.

AWFUL! Do not go here! Not only was the wait too long, I was rushed. And then, I was told that my well check up visit was covered to then get a bill in the mail stating that I own money for the visit. I called to have someone explain this to me, after several tries calling I finally have the billing manager explain to me that because I had a question that did not regard my regular check up I was being charged as if a "special" visit. So basically she answered a question of mine a charged me 50$. I did not appreciate the sneaky charge and I was FURIOUS with the billing manager's attitude toward me. She spoke over me and kept interrupting everything I said. And repeatedly said I was wrong. It was disgusting how she acted, I hope she is ashamed of herself. This isn't right you don't treat people this way. And the unprofessionalism was unbelievable! I have never in my life experienced this kind of behavior or care, or lack of. In all seriousness and genuinely do not go here. I don't want this to happen to someone else. Do not go here and be blindsided by unexpected fees and bills.

Dr. Amy has been my Dr. for years and I have a number of friends and acquaintances who were already patients of Dr. Amy before we met. We all rave about her and happily refer her when we meet someone who's looking for a new GYN Dr. Don't be fooled by her direct, no BS manner. She's got a heart of gold, but she will tell you when you're neglecting your health or being unrealistic about your options. She'll answer any question you have, but you have to ASK and please be courteous when you book your appointment so they can make a longer appointment for you. Sometimes I've had to wait longer than others, but that's pretty normal for South Florida doctors. I've had issues with the front office being disorganized and not returning calls in the past, but have not had that problem recently.
