Dr. Cotter was rude and cold from the moment i met him. He made me feel stupid and he was very degrading. I will never come back to his office.

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was very satisfied with my visit. They were helpful and I left feeling encouraged. I used Dr. Cottter throughtout my first two pregnancies when he practiced at AGH and I was more than pleased with the care. He treated me and my pregnancy in a very personalized and individualized way. He never used a cookie cutter approach, he listened to my concerns and saw me and my baby through a life threatening delivery. If I hadn't moved away I would definitely be using him with my current pregnancy.

Dr. Cotter's office isn't on 2nd ave anymore - he moved to NFRMC. His new office and staff are wonderful...I can't say enough about how much they showed they care about me and how nice they all were. Its hard enough to have to see a doctor when you are sick, but they made the experience the best possible experience I can imagine. I felt pampered and cared for. Everyone from the receptionist who greeted me by name, to the doctor who answered all my questions and took so much to reassure me, to the wonderful nurses who comforted me...I just can't thank them enough. The office itself is beautiful, relaxing, and comfortable. They did everything they could to make sure I was well taken care of. If you want not just an exceptional physician but an exceptional office staff and experience, I would highly recommend Dr. Cotter.

They were one of the kindest, most caring staff I've ever dealt with. It didn't matter how many times I called with a question or concern, they were always happy to help me. I always tell my friends looking for a new OBGYN to go here. Its one of the best doctors offices I've ever been to. They didn't pressure me to buy anything I didn't need, which I really appreciated. I've been to other places that pressured me to buy stuff and it always made me very uneasy. As soon as I walked through the door, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They went out of their way to make me feel special and appreciated. I knew I was getting top-of-the-line treatment when they told me about what they learned at the latest conference they attended, and how they were incorporating that knowledge into the practice. Dr. Cotter was patient and showed concern for me and my health issues on repeated visits. He is a clearly compassionate physician who is dedicated to his patients. I've read negative remarks about him on other sites and wonder if someone isn't out there trying to sabotage his practice. I do know that he deals with difficult patients that no other physicians are willing to care for, and hope that his good heartedness is not turning around to bite him. He also accepts insurances, and even no insurance-patients, that other offices turn away. Anyone considering seeing Dr. Cotter should absolutely give him a chance and not believe the ugly things that some people are posting about him.

I was very satisfied with my visit. They were helpful and I left feeling encouraged. I was worried that they were going to wear an obnoxious cologne, because I've dealt with that at other places, but they didn't even wear cologne. It was fantastic to be able to breathe freely the entire time. They are always prepared for my appointment and remember everything about me. They gave me sufficient information to make a decision about my treatment plan.

I should have left immediately, but...

I was sitting in the waiting room with my husband and baby girl. My appointment time had passed. Finally, the Doctor entered the waiting room, not to see me, but to leave the office to go get himself something to eat! After about 45 minutes, he came back without so much as an explanation or an apology or even a glance at me. Finally, I was called to the exam room by his blunt-mannered nurse.

From this point, I was no longer ignored; instead I was insulted. I explained that I had been diagnosed with PCOS. PCOS contributes to infertility, obesity, hair growth, heart disease, diabetes, etc. The Doctor told me to just lose weight and I would be cured. This "medical advice" is not applicable to PCOS patients - PCOS patients can be underweight, overweight, post-menopausal, anything. This condition is not fully understood, but everyone (except the good doctor) knows that losing weight will not cure PCOS - nothing cures it. I have been slim and I have been fat, and I have always had PCOS. But not willing to be swayed, he told me that I must be doing something wrong with my diet and I should watch the Biggest Loser because that will show me what it takes to lose weight. Like the fat girl needs to sit around watching TV - serve me up a bon-bon while you are at it Doc!

He then wanted to put me on glyburide. This drug is used for diabetics who cannot produce enough insulin. One of my problems is that I produce too much insulin. So why would I want a drug that would make more?

Then he assumed that my husband uses steroids because he is a weightlifter.

Then he assumed that my mom is fat and hairy because PCOS is genetic - hmm, I thought he said it was from being fat.

This man has no regard for people's feelings. He is unbelievably smug. I feel sorry for the women who have no choice but to have him as their caregiver.
