I visited Dr. Bruce Rice for a deviated septum repair. The consultation went okay, but when I went back for the surgery, he seemed to have an attitude. he was rude and childish. I figured since I've gone that far, I might as well complete the procedure. It seemed to go "okay", but I really didn't like his attitude. I returned about 1 week later so he could remove the bandage from my nose. About 2 weeks after that, I was rollerblading .. then felt something in my nose. I pulled a bit. Then pulled more. It turned out to be a 4 inch length of bandage that he didn't remove. I would NEVER go back to him, or recommend him to anyone. Skip this doctor. You will be glad you did.

Dr. Bruce Rice should not be practicing. His trembling hands and confused speech are signs that his cognitive function is declining. He refused to look at an MRI which indicated a severe sinus infection. He told me to "rest" and come back in a week even though symptoms were progressively getting worse in the 2 months I had been seeking care. He refused to discuss my lab results with me or ask me if I had any new symptoms. I became so ill I could no longer walk. He refused to give me antibiotics. I strongly discourage patients from seeing him as his advice could result in death.

Beware -- this Blue Shield of California network provider refuses to accept patients through Covered California. I made a phone appt; they said nothing about this policy. I showed up for the appt. 2 weeks later with my Blue Shield Enhanced PPO card and they refused to take me. They had said nothing over the phone, and acted like it was on me to specify that my Blue Shield coverage is connected to Covered California. I pay EXTRA for an Enhanced PPO. The snotty receptionist and clerk wouldn't respond to questions; they just shrugged as if to say "tough ____." They were rude, unsympathetic and absolutely couldn't have cared less. I have already complained to Blue Shield and Covered California about this provider.
