My experience with Dr. Videla was excellent. He was filling in for Dr. Malik who performed by surgery one month ago. Dr. Videla spent a lot of time with me and for that I am very gratful and apprecitive of his time, concern, patience and expertise. I recommend him highly to anyone that want an excellent doctor specially in urogynecology and female pelvic medicine. I was especially impressed that even though I was not his normal patience he made me feel very special and took any concerns I had very seriously. He is truly gifted and not only an excellent doctor but a very caring person.

He was referred for a bladder lift, but "sold" me on full hysterectomy by saying it (the bladder) would be easier to get to with "those parts" out of the way. He told me the uterus and ovaries don't factor into sexual functioning and that I wasn't producing hormones anyway, at age 54. Instead of telling me about negative outcomes (statistically about 30%), he told me to research it on the 'net, which I did but all of the anti-hysterectomy sites looked like zealots. So I did it and regret it. He discharged me while still in enormous pain. He did not return my calls for 3 days, and then he argued that I was not sick and would not schedule me; yet, he called in an antibiotic that ended up giving me nerve damage. It did not resolve my issues so I bypassed him and went to my PCP for care. Even my PCP could not get a call-back. I think, if you have cancer or otherwise HAVE to have surgery and have no complications, you'd be happy. If you go in not needing or expecting a hysterectomy and you rely on him for correct information about women's sexual anatomy, you'd best get a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th opinion. The uterus exists other than to carry babies; it's a part of sexual functioning. Ovaries continue producing hormones, albeit in lower levels, forever. These hormones give you sex drive and feminity. Had I known the impact on my sex life and the ultimate nerve damage and terrible follow up, I'd go elsewhere.

They had already reviewed my medical history before the appointment, and went over it with me in the exam room so as not to miss anything. They were extremely thorough and made sure not to miss one detail. When comparing them to others I have visited for the same condition, they are among the best I have seen. I love that they are always more than happy to answer my questions, and actually welcome questions. I've felt awkward at some other places I've visited when I've tried to ask a lot of questions, but not here. Every time I had a concern, or if I called to ask a question, the staff made me feel like I shouldn't have called. They weren't helpful at all.
