This doctor saved my life! I went to countless doctors before I was seen by Dr. Akhtar for some symptoms that other doctors blew off and told me I was all in my head. Dr. Akhtar sent me for testing and the results came back and I was diagnosed with a rare nervous system disorder that is treatable certain medications to minimize my symptoms. He never gave up on me and listened to what I knew was going on with my body that I knew wasn't right and was making me sick all the time. I have stayed with him for over 20 years now and he is the only doctor I trust to treat me. His office stays busy with long time patients who refuse to be seen by any other doctor. I now have 4 children and a very happy life that I thought when I was much younger I would never be able to have. Doctor Akhtar is the kind of person who cares about his patients and takes time to treat you rather than rush you through his office like a cookie cutter patient.

Instead of doing a pregnancy test on me, after telling the Dr. I had missed my period for 4 months and gained 10 pounds, he tried to get me to join his weight loss program. Nevermind the fact I was 5 months pregnant (only found out because of a kidney stone trip to the ER). My daughter was born with a rare genetic condition and died at the age of 26 days.

There were discrepancies on my bill, charges for medical records I never asked for and for prescriptions I never had called in, plus they would say that Medicare only reimbursed them ex. $20 when really they had been reimbursed $25, and bill me for the $5 (double dipping). His wife called me numerous times threatening me, telling me it was my duty to be his advocate and get the insurance company to straighten out the mess she made and if I didn't do that she was "going to call my Mother".

Where to begin. First of all the office staff are horrible. You are lucky if anyone answers the phone and if they do-you will not be able to understand the mumbles. Same girl that mumbles will never smile but looks as if she is dying and she might be 22. She makes a horrible impression and add that to waiting 3 to 4 hours and watching all the pharmaceutical reps sign in and go straight back although you have been waiting 2 hours and have an appointment. All the time that you are waiting, you will notice that at least 8 people work there but they will not come to the front desk if you have a question. Never call and leave a message because it will never be answered. If you ever get real sick you will not be able to reach them and will have to go somewhere else anyway. Save your time.

I was in awe at the level of service I received. They completely surpassed all my expectations and I will absolutely be going back. I was glad that they were located in a safe neighborhood. When comparing them to others I have visited for the same condition, they are among the best I have seen. Dr. Akhtar went to extreams to take care of my needs and the needs of family members who was also treated by him. He is agreat Dr and I would recommend him to anyone who needs a doctor who will listen and give all the time a patient needs.
