When I made the appointment I specifically asked for 1 of 2 doctors, recommended by my primary care physicians. They made the appointment with a third doctor. I was told I could wait to see Dr. Kalhorn and she worked me in. Not the best solution, because she was rushed, but I needed to see a specialist right away. She suggested a colonoscopy. I told her during the previous colonoscopy I woke up, as my intestines apparently are very twisted and it is difficult to get the scope through. After my colonoscopy she asked me if I knew my intestines were twisted. I said yes. She asked me why I hadn't told her about that. I reminded her I had. There was no follow up call from her. I have had a fever ever since the colonoscopy (7 days). I am going to follow up with my primary care giver.

They always made sure that I wasn't in any pain. One of the first things I noticed about this business was how many different areas of the building were handicap-accessible. I have been to other places where I couldn't tell how someone in a wheelchair could even enter, but they really spent a lot of time to accommodate people with all different needs. They were easy to reach in an emergency. When I called they answered right away and I was so relieved to hear a friendly voice. This provider has helpful information available online, which is really convenient. They have a good website and online presence.

I loved Dr. Kalhorn! She took the time to explain my condition as well as my options. I was very impressed. They were so easy to reach in an emergency, they answered my call immediately. It is a relief to know that I can count on them to always be there for me when I need them the most. Their staff is very friendly and welcoming. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better.

A pathology report was not obtained from my primary care physician prior to my appointment with Dr. Kalhorn. As she was uninformed as to what my heath concern was exactly, we had a very broad, general discussion concerning several different tests that I quickly lost track of. While she made an unsuccessful attempt to obtain the pathology report, a staff member entered the examination room three times to retrieve various items in the room, which I felt to be odd and irregular. The examination room itself was very small and lacked a privacy screen. Dr. Kalhorn, after finally determining she was not going to be able to get hold of the pathology report, decided to perform an anoscopy. I was required to undress in front of a staff member who held up a small paper sheet that was wholly ineffective at maintaining my privacy (in this day and age of full-body scanners, this wasn’t much of a concern to me but still, the situation felt odd and very awkward). Patients should undress behind privacy screens, and be given a paper gown to wear. After the examination, I found the sink in the room was full of utensils being soaked and I was unable to wash my hands, which increased my discomfort level. I was told by Dr. Kalhorn I could wash my hands in the bathroom when I pointed at the sink, but then she led me directly down the hallway to another room where a colonoscopy was to be scheduled, so I supposed my concerns about washing my hands were dismissed, which increased my level of discomfort. The conversation with the other staff members centered around my co-payment and deductible amounts. I felt I was reduced to a nameless entity, with my only purpose in being there to generate revenue for the business operation at hand. I will not be returning to Dr. Kalhorn’s office for any reason.
