Dr. David A. Goldfarb apparently knows nothing about how diabetes affects the eyes. I am diabetic, as was my mother, and my father had glaucoma and cataracts, the likelihoods of which are greater with diabetes.

When I saw Dr. Goldfarb, he did not know what to make of my blurry vision and referred me back to my endocrinologist. He asked me what to do. I said, "You're asking me?!" He's supposed to be an expert! He kept referring to my endocrinologist as "your physician," and I thought, "You're a physician!" Apparently, he did not see himself as a physician, let alone an expert in the effects of diabetes on the eyes.

My suggestion is that Dr. Goldfarb revisit the definition of "ophthalmologist" as opposed to "optometrist" and either learn about diabetes and vision or change careers.
