Dr. Blumstein is exceptionally thorough and personable ~ and one of the few physicians who will call you himself if you contact him with a question. He does not condescend in the least, and always asks if you have questions. He prints out a summary of every visit, so you have a written record to take home. He has a sense of humor (one of the most important assets a doctor can have), in addition to gentle kindness.
The office is always jam packed and the wait can be long, but that is because he takes as much time with each patient as he or she needs. So, take along a book or crossword puzzle, and be patient (pun intended). It's well worth the wait.

Answered everything thoroughly and took real time with me to go over everything associated with my issue. Feels like I am in very good hands. That is a real relief after some of the other doctors I've seen.

The office wait is beyond unacceptable. Average 1 1/2 wait time at least each time I had an appointment. On a few occasions I left because I was to uncomfortable to say. Office help isn't particular helpful and feel uncomfortable with them when I have to speak with them on the phone.

I was referred to Dr. Blumstein by my primary care physician. Since I work for SBU I usually look for Dr's in the Stony Brook system, but decided to try out the practice, and liked Dr. Blumstein immediately. He is warm and personable and has a sense of humor as well. He took plenty of time to answer my questions, discuss a treatment plan, the potential side effects of medications, suggested diet and more --all very important since I was newly diagnosed with RA. He did not condescend, and I felt I was an active participant in determining the appropriate treatment. The practice is extremely busy and the waiting room is always full. You can expect to wait awhile - but I don't mind this, since the Dr gives each patient as much time as he/she needs. Staff are also very nice. The office itself is unimpressive (typical of an older medical park), but I prefer a capable physician to a stylish office. I have overheard other patients in the waiting room speaking highly of other doctors in this practice. ...No wonder they are busy.
