AVOID AT ALL COSTS DR. FAZEELA BAQAI, HER RUDE EMPLOYEE ‘POOJA’, AND THE HOAG HEALTH CENTER - IRVINE WOODBRIDGE.

My wife had an appointment today, 03/04/15 at 11:30am, with Dr. Fazeela Baqai at the Hoag Health Center - Irvine Woodbridge location which she made 1-2 weeks ago to check her endocrine levels. Our second car is in the shop so I had to stay home from work today so that our other car was available for her to use specifically for this appointment, as I work in LA with an hour commute. She also fasted since 10pm last night until her 11:30am appointment, skipping breakfast even though she was hungry, in preparation of any tests that she may need to check her endocrine levels as she didn’t want to delay those.

Last night she received a call from an unknown number, which she assumed was a wrong number as no message was left. Shortly after, she received another call from that number with the message from Dr. Fazella Baqai’s office to confirm her appointment. We have a 2 year old daughter that takes up a lot of her time as she is a stay at home mother, and we put her needs above all else, especially phone calls from unknown numbers. By the time my wife listened to the message and called back to confirm, the office was closed. She did not leave a message. It is under our impression, as I would think any normal human being’s impression, that the second the appointment was made, that was our confirmation. Why do we need to confirm twice? If we were to miss the appointment we would receive a missed appointment without notice fee billed to us as most doctors do. She confirmed her appointment the SECOND she made it weeks in advance…

Today she arrives to her appointment, on time, at 11:30am. Again, fasting and ready to get it over with so that she could get lunch. When she walked up to the desk the person (Pooja? or something similar) was on the phone for a few minutes. When she got off the phone my wife informed her of her check-in and Pooja immediately and rudely told her she “was late.” She was NOT late. The time elapsed since 11:30am was from Pooja being on the phone, which my wife informed her of. Then Pooja told my wife that her appointment was canceled on the account that she did not confirm her appointment the night before. This is absurd. As I said, the appointment is considered confirmed in our eyes the second it was made. Pooka then rudely said “why didn’t you answer when we called you?!”, “why didn’t you call us back?!” Again, we have a 2 year old daughter. She is our NUMBER ONE priority. Not sitting by our phone waiting for calls. Not returning calls for appointments that we assume as still on schedule. We learned the main reason for their call was not to confirm, it was actually to request that my wife arrive at an earlier timeslot than her scheduled appointment made weeks ago. Which leads us to believe Dr. Fazeela Baqai wanted to open up some time to get away from the office for whatever reason.

She was then told that Dr. Fazeela Baqai was not available. That she was with another patient (or more likely taking an extended lunch break with her newly opened slot…) It took a lot to coordinate this visit. Me staying home. My wife fasting to prepare. Rushing to the appointment with daughter in tow. Just to be rudely dismissed by Pooja who said that it was “their policy”.

My wife called me and informed me what had happened. I immediately called the office to question why my wife was turned away from her scheduled appointment. I was told the same BS excuses. “She was late.” NO she wasn’t. “She didn’t confirm her appointment.” Since when does any respectable office cancel appointments the day of from not getting a phone call confirmation?? And why didn’t they try to call once again, earlier in the morning, to actually confirm?? It is obvious the Dr was indeed not there. I asked Pooja to speak to Dr. Fazeela Baqai and Pooja told me she was not available. I told Pooja to inform the doctor to call me to explain why my wife was turned away from her scheduled appointment. It is now 1pm and I still haven’t received a call. I highly doubt I will.

I told Pooja (or whatever her name is) of all the preparation we had to take just for this appointment. The fasting. Me staying home from my office today. Pooja could care less. I informed her that I will go online to share our experience and will leave a bad review anywhere and everywhere I can. She said very rudely, “if you really have the free time to do that, go ahead.” Well guess what Pooja, you unprofessional rude piece of trash, I took the day off from work today for my wife’s appointment so I have PLENTY of free time to write this review. And if you weren’t aware, there is a little thing called ‘copy & paste’. I will have this review ALL OVER THE WEB in 15 minutes. Have a nice day.

I always had a long wait. Usually 30-45 minutes. Doctor was good and thorough. BUT her nurse was very rude and gruff, and although she wore scrubs, she topped them with either an old shawl, or a dirty pilled jacket. A good doctor is being dragged down by this nurse who makes many mistakes and seldom returns calls.

Dr. Baqai is wonderful. She paid close attention to me and all of my questions were answered. Her staff is plain rude and unhelpful, as if you are imposing upon their personal time. I didn't feel welcome there.

They were by far one of the best I've ever seen in their field. It was obvious that they've been exceeding their clients' expectations for many years. I was worried that they were going to wear an obnoxious cologne, because I've dealt with that at other places, but they didn't even wear cologne. It was fantastic to be able to breathe freely the entire time. They were one of the kindest, most caring staff I've ever dealt with. It didn't matter how many times I called with a question or concern, they were always happy to help me.
