Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

  • 8 ounces paneer cheese, cubed

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garam masala

  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric

  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 can diced tomatoes

  • 1 cup frozen peas

  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped

Directions

  • Sauté the cheese cubes in a little oil until light brown. Transfer to a plate.

  • Add more oil in the same pan and cook the onions until golden. Add the garlic and spices and cook for one minute more.

  • Add the tomatoes and about 1/2 cup of water and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Add the fried cheese cubes and peas and cook on a low heat for 20 minutes.

  • Garnish with cilantro and serve with rice or bread.
