Ingredients

  • 1 stick cinnamon

  • 6 whole green cardamom pods

  • 6 whole cloves

  • 1 inch piece peeled and thinly sliced ginger root

  • 4 whole black peppercorns

  • 3 cups water

  • 2 single-serve black tea bags

  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar

  • 1 cup low-fat milk

Directions

  • Into a small pot, add the cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, peppercorns, and water. Bring to a boil.

  • Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside for 10 minutes.

  • Return the pot to the stove and bring it back to boil. Remove from stove and add in the tea.

  • Cover and set aside for 3-5 minutes.

  • Mix in the sugar and milk and heat on low for 1 minute.

  • Pour into a cup through a strainer to remove the solid spices.
