I have seen this doctor and his PA's for 6 yr. I will continue. He changed PA a year ago. PA is clinically competent, but earns a "C-" for patient interaction. Since then I insist on seeing MD. Office staff is friendly enough, but they don't go out of their way to be helpful. I will probably recommend this doctor to people I know.

First, Dr. Ortega never seems to look at my file before I come in. He seems confused and has little input into the reasons I need to see a Urologist. Then, he sent me home without pain medicine. Before I even returned home 40 miles away, the office called and said they would give me a few pain pills in case I passed the stone over the weekend, but I had to go back and pick up the script. So there was another 80 miles round trip. I got there, and I was handed a script for 15 5/300 Vicodin. By the time this happened and I returned back to the town I live in, my pharmacy was closed. The next day, I went to go fill it and I was informed that it was a new pill and no new had it yet! My pharmacist ended up driving around after hours looking for this for me, hand delivered it to my door, but unfortunately I had already passed a stone larger than all of my others combined. ( I keep them all, so I have proof of this). So long story short, I was in a massive amount of pain on a day my house was hosting a baby shower. I do not recommend Dr. Ortega because he could have written a script for 5/325 and every pharmacy would have had them. Instead, he wrote it for something released on the market a week earlier and it cost 20$ for 15 pills. Kidney stones are not a joke and I felt like this could have been handled better. I do however, recommend Hannibal Pharmacy (Jack Hess pharmacist) as he bent over backwards to try and help me.
