My name is William Weir, MD, and I am a clinical assistant professor of thoracic surgery in the University of Florida Department of Surgery. I earned my medical degree and completed integrated thoracic surgery training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During my final year of training, I served as the chief thoracic surgery resident. I completed a research fellowship at the University of Michigan Extracorporeal Life Support Laboratory, where I mastered Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, or ECMO, and led research teams in transplantation and ex-vivo organ perfusion.
