I had to find a place to get physical therapy after surgery to repair a snapped quad tendon. Athletico—Gladstone was the first place I looked at because it is extremely handy for me; after checking the available reviews I didn’t look any further. I was put with Corey, and that turned out great (I did see the manager, Eric, for one appointment when Corey wasn’t available, and he seemed excellent, too).
My surgeon told me after the surgery that I might never regain full range of motion because of some “trimming” of damaged tissues; I told Corey about that at the beginning, and he simply said, “We’ll see”. We did see; when he was finished with me I had accessed every degree of flex I’d had before.
Information and explanation was excellent throughout my time there. Scheduling was easy, and I was given a printout of appointments each time I scheduled. Corey gave me customized recommendations for exercises to do at home during different stages of my recovery, with illustrated printouts plus online access to see videos of the exercises being performed. He kept me informed when he took measurements (ROM or strength) so I could tell how I was doing, and Athletico asked for brief surveys at different stages to ask ME how I felt I was doing, with immediate feedback on my progress and how I compared to “similar” cases. The facility was modern, well-equipped and spotless; there was normally at least one student assisting the therapists, and when they weren’t with clients they were cleaning and sterilizing tables and equipment between users.
AND HERE’S THE IMPORTANT PART: Corey is both personable and professional. He was always watching to see where I was doing well, and where I wasn’t, and how much I could handle, and he would adjust his plan on the fly to keep me moving forward on a highly personalized path to recovery. He asked for my feedback regularly, and was always positive, encouraging and helpful. Corey did NOT call for the most appointments the prescriptions would cover; he saw me with the frequency he thought best for my individual case. And he did not “stretch it out” to keep me in therapy as long as was authorized; he got me better and then talked to me when he thought I was ready to stop therapy. When he was comfortable, and knew I was comfortable, he cut me loose. The entire staff, from office manager/receptionist on, made the experience better than I had expected; many of them were working in or studying physical therapy because of THEIR OWN experience recovering from serious injuries, so they were both sympathetic and empathetic. Most of my experience was with therapist Corey and students Molly and Jackie; all were excellent to the point that I honestly I think I’ll miss them a bit (I had limited experience with others there, and thought they were all great). My 5-Star rating of Athletico—Gladstone is firm enough that I intend to post this review on multiple sites, so if you see this again you’ll know I meant it.
