After spending two years performing pulmonary research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, she decided to pursue her passion for eye care. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she was president of the student chapter of the American Academy of Optometry and vice president of the optometric fraternity Epsilon Psi Epsilon.
