About Leslie

Leslie loves the variety of work involved in her position. As an Interventional Radiology Nurse, she sees patients before and after complex procedures on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. She also follows up on patients by visiting them to ensure that their interventions achieved the desired outcomes, and to determine whether they need additional treatment. She chose to join the Beacon team because, she says, “Beacon has a great reputation with excellent providers.”

Leslie grew up always wanting to be a nurse, and these days, she enjoys having opportunities to educate patients. “My goal is to make sure my patients understand their disease and its process,” she says. “But for me, the most important part of my work is to listen to patients, their families, and other providers.”

With her undergraduate time spent at Indiana University at South Bend, and a Master’s degree in Nursing from South University Online, Leslie has served in a variety of roles throughout her career. Her experience goes back to 2010, and has taken her from NICU to ER care, to nursing management and beyond.

“My experience has taught me that no two people are the same, and no two diagnoses are the same. Every patient has a different issue, and requires individualized care,” Leslie says. When people have concerns, she adds, “I try to answer questions to their satisfaction – and if they need additional care, I refer them elsewhere in a timely manner.”

In her own words…

Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life? My brother. He has always had my back, even when he didn’t agree.

What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? Working in the kitchen at a daycare. It was hard work, but fun.

What is your favorite food? Movie? Pasta and pizza. Any cheesy romance movie.

What were your best/worst subjects in school growing up? Best subject was math. My worst was English.

What are your hobbies/interests? I enjoy reading, and all activities you can do at the beach.

Do you have pets? I have two cats, one of which had to have his front leg amputated due to cancer.

What is something most people don’t know about you? I’ve worked in a variety of different areas of healthcare as an RN, from NICU to outpatient surgery.
