Alessandra Scalmati, MD, PhD, is Associate Director, Geriatric Psychiatry, Associate Director, Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry, and Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr Scalmati’s clinical focus is on geriatric psychiatry, general psychiatry with special focus on medically complex patients, and the clinical management of long-term effects of psychological trauma in older adults. After receiving her Doctor of Medicine from University of Modena in Italy in 1987, Dr Scalmati started her postdoctoral training with a yearlong internship in medicine at Clinica Medica in Modena, Italy.
