My name is Dr Vilma I Torres. I am board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. I am also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society. At 12 years old, I watched my mother's struggles as a heart patient and knew I wanted to be a physician so I could help her and many others like her. I went on to earn my medical degree at the age of 23 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and then moved out west, where I completed an internship and medical residency at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. I followed this with a fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.
