About

Ilona Lorincz

I am the Director of Quality for the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Junior Research fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics. I completed my undergraduate training at Dartmouth College, received my medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed my internal medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. During my endocrine fellowship, I completed a fellowship in QI/patient safety through the Penn Center for Health Care Improvement and Patient Safety (CHIPS) and obtained a Master’s in Health Policy Research in 2017.

My primary clinical interests are diabetes, thyroid disorders, and transgender medicine and my research focuses on improving healthcare delivery for patients with endocrine conditions. I have a particular interest in optimizing primary care-endocrinologist collaboration, patient-physician communication, the use of technology to promote diabetes self-care behaviors, and reducing hospital admissions for people with diabetes. I also lead quality improvement, medication safety, and EHR optimization initiatives for diabetic inpatients.
