Since early childhood, Ms. Barrios knew that nursing either animals or people back to health would be her passion. During the summer breaks she found it particularly rewarding to help her grandmother take care of the neighbors’ children whose parents worked. She loved seeing the children reach milestones and loved to help them improve when sick.Ms. Arelis Barrios earned her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville where she completed her internship at the city’s main hospital Shands. She earned her certification in Family Practice with her main focus for the past 7 years being in the pediatric field. She is a strong advocate of Patient – Centered Care. Ms. Barrios truly believes that involvement and cooperation of those involved in a child’s well – being whether it be in alleviation of an ailment or prevention of such. Ms. Barrios also believes that a caretaker’s understanding of an illness (cause, prognosis, medication, etc.) is what drives adherence and therefore is key to every patient visit.
