Michael Reader, MD is a staff surgeon at the Houston Methodist Hospital and a member of the Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group. His interests include complex hernia surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction, gastrointestinal surgery, laparoscopic surgery and surgery of the gallbladder.He graduated from Emory University with a degree in biology and earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed a surgical internship and residency at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Reader is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is currently licensed to practice medicine in Texas.Dr. Reader is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College and Texas A&M University College of Medicine. Dr. Reader is a native Houstonian who enjoys spending his free time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys sports, barbecuing and outdoor activities.
