About

Gabriel Rendon

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

I chose gastroenterology as a specialty because I find the liver, pancreas and intestinal tract fascinating. Gastroenterology still utilizes the “art of medicine,” yet relies heavily on science and evidence-based medicine. I find endoscopic procedures to be a very rewarding experience. It is the perfect mix of office time and procedure time.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

My main interests are colon cancer screening and prevention, GERD, pancreas and biliary disorders and inflammatory bowel disease.

Where did you study?

Undergrad: Texas A&M University, Medical School: from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Residency: Brigham & Women’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School and Fellowship: Baylor College of Medicine.

What certifications do you hold?

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. I am a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and boating. My son and I play golf on weekends and we enjoy Aggie games as well.

Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?

I graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from my medical school, the highest honor. I have been chosen as a “Best Doctor” by D magazine multiple times.

Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?
