I have much experience working with kids K-12, which covers all those “tough years”. After completing two counseling internships in local schools, and having counseled individual adolescents and young adults through my practice; I have dealt with a lot of problems our youth face everyday. Being a kid can be hard. Dealing with fitting in, friendships, bullying, a parents divorce, or simply not being listened to are all issues kids face today. We can tackle these problems together. The teen years are definitely challenging. School, careers, love, body image, relationships, and many others pop up when they least expect it. Knowing they can listen to someone other than their parent or guardian may unlock their key to happiness and the ability to move forward.

Self Esteem
Self esteem is like our body’s armour against the worlds challenges. When kids know their abilities and where they lack them, they have an easier time handling conflicts and generally feel good about themselves. When kids with low self esteem tackle challenges, this may cause severe anxiety and frustration. When you don’t feel good about yourself you have a harder time seeing the “bigger picture” or solution to the problem. In adolescents, this issue can sometimes spread like wild fire. Being a teen is sometimes very hard with all the pressures of having the “right clothes”, fitting in with the right group, body image, dating, puberty and development, and pressures from the media. There may be several more issues going on at home that can exacerbate the problem. Parents also face these challenges within themselves and may need to reach out for external help. Together we can navigate through these “bumps” in life.

Relationship Issues
Can you think of a relationship in your life that you’d like to be healthier or stronger? Most people can. Together we can deal with issues stemming from: coming from a family of divorce, a blended family, single parenthood, romantic relationships, professional relationships, reconnecting to your kids, sibling rivalry, and many other family relationships. Having healthy communication within a family is key to thriving and being happy. You already have the ability within to help yourself. You just need the tools in order to do this. With help, this can be possible for you.
