Ryan Walsh

Ryan Walsh, MD, PhD, is a board-certified neurologist at the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute. In addition, he is fellowship-trained in movement disorders.

Dr. Walsh’s clinical expertise includes caring for patients with Parkinson’s disease and all other movement disorders. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, and the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Walsh earned his medical degree and PhD from the NIH-funded Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he also pursued postdoctoral training in neuroimaging. He then completed a fellowship in movement disorders at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Walsh’s research interests include cognitive impairment and neuro-imaging in Parkinson’s disease. He was integral in conducting new neuro-imaging research during his tenure at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, including serving as principal investigator of one of three research projects for a large National Institutes of Health (NIH) award. Dr. Walsh’s efforts have garnered several honors and awards, including being recognized by the American Academy of Neurology as one of 12 individuals nationally selected for their inaugural Emerging Leaders Program.
